This is an improvement of the original Mr. Coffee Maker I'm replacing, only because the carafe chipped. It held up for 23 years. Pros: 1) It brews relatively quickly, and the coffee brews at approximately 165 degrees. Pretty standard for 90% of all coffee makers. 2) The footprint is small for tight kitchen counters. 3) Price is great for a basic coffee maker that will last for years. Cons: 1) The reusable filter, while a good concept, brews a very "weak cup of coffee". Also, microscopic particles make their way into your cup. I put a paper filter under the reusable basket and it will brew a cleaner, stronger cup of coffee. You'll end up using paper throwaway filters to get a stronger cup of coffee. 2) No auto shutoff. 3) Whatever happened to white coffee makers? Black is so Darth Vader in the morning. LOL ... show more

I recently purchased the Elite Gourmet EHC9420 coffee maker, and overall, it’s a great option for the price. It’s compact and doesn’t take up much counter space, which is perfect for small kitchens, dorms, or even an office setup. The machine is very easy to use just add water, coffee grounds, and press the switch. I especially like the reusable filter, which saves money and reduces waste. The “Pause N Serve” feature is also convenient when you can’t wait for the full brew to finish. It brews coffee quickly and the flavor is surprisingly good for such an affordable machine. Cleaning is simple as well, since the parts are easy to remove and rinse. The only downside is the 5-cup capacity, which might not be enough for larger households, and it doesn’t have advanced features like programmable settings.
