My mom taught me to sew on her sewing machine many years ago. At the time my mom used her sewing machine to make homemade clothing for my sister and I, and once I learned to sew, I enjoyed using it for making homemade doll clothes. Years later, my mom gave me that sewing machine when she got a new one. Since then I used it for making clothing from patterns, but infrequently. I was never really one to make buttonholes or even use a zigzag stitch, but mainly used my sewing machine for making curtains and drapery, and for doing repairs. Several years ago the motor on that sewing machine burned out and since then I have been making repairs by hand, but have missed having a sewing machine, so I was happy to have the opportunity to try out this sewing machine. I didn't have high expectations for it, but figured it would be useful for repairs. However, I am pleasantly surprised by how well it works for my basic sewing needs. I really like how lightweight this machine is. I kept my old machine in its case when I wasn't using it, and had to take it out of the closet and set it up when I wanted to use it, which was a chore because of how heavy that machine was. This machine is so lightweight that it is no trouble to transport from place to place. It goes easily through a variety of fabrics from lighter to heavier weight. The sound is louder than my old machine. Also, the power pedal is rather small, but works fine. This machine is ideal for teaching a young person to sew. I would have been thrilled to have had my own personal sewing machine when I learned to sew. It is also perfect for anyone who, like me, needs a basic sewing machine for repairs and simple sewing projects. I am happy to have this sewing machine, and recommend it!

These light weight lower cost sewing machines are great for newbies to using a sewing machine. Itself great to get to know the what's and how's of sewing machines. At this price you can't go wrong while gaining knowledge . That being said ,don't expect these machines to last long as all the inner are made of plastic, and will eventually fail much sooner than a much more robust sewing machine.

This is a fantastic little sewing machine for beginners. It has all the basic features you would need to start making or altering your clothes such as patterned sewing and even button hole making features. It's pretty lightweight yet sturdy enough to stay put on a counter. The kit it comes with is also the perfect started kit with all the different threads and tools you need. I just wish it came in a case with a cover since once you open the bag, it's not secured. The machine is on the louder side but is pretty powerful for it's size and can even sew through denim. It has a slow and fast speed as well as a push pedal. I think my biggest disappointment is the pedal and speed control. The machine can be used by flipping a switch up or down with automatically just starts sewing at that speed until it's flipped off. Alternatively, you can use the foot pedal to start/stop the machine. The foot pedal works well, but its super light and cheap feeling. It also doesn't sense pressure, it's just an on/off function. Can't expect too much from a low cost machine, but it's one thing i would have liked to see improved as a beginner needs MORE control than someone who is advanced. Other than that it has a ton of other small and standard features. Thread cutter built in works well. Bobbin wrapper built in. Light while the machine is plugged in. Hand controlled dial. Replaceable foot pedals. Etc. The instructions were also full of information on how to use the machine and help you get started. The diagrams can be a bit hard to follow in some spots, but it's certainly a great resource. Totally recommend for casual use or for beginners.

Every decade or so we tell ourselves "we're going to get a sewing machine." And like clockwork, we buy a second hand one then think about projects and think about projects and think some more. Then we decide, "we're never going to use this" and give it to someone who will. We still have our last one (you can see it in the background). We have tried to thread it, and that's as far as we got. So... knowing better, we ordered this little machine. The first things we noticed when we removed it from the box - it arrives pre-threaded and ready-to-go. It also comes with the little piece of fabric that proves it works. We are left with no excuses! We WILL use this one. IT is exactly the size we need. Unlike previous sewing machines it has a pedal foot with a decent length cord. It comes with everything one could possibly need to get started: Scissors, a seam ripper, needles, assorted thread, pre-wound bobbins and an easy to read (small) instruction book. There is no assumption that one has taken a sewing class or knows any sewing machine terminology. This little machine is set-up for success. Yes, we have plugged it in. We have stitched a short line. It works and it's pretty quiet. And we really have no excuses for not stitching up a few cat toys this weekend : ) Check this "Channel" later for proof (Or lack thereof).

Don't count this little guy out! I have put some serious hours on it and it's handling everything I throw at it. I'm doing lots of heavy weight fabrics, folded hems, long piping trim and it gets through it. Sometimes it will need to be nursed through 4+ layers of folded fabric, but once you help feed it in it takes off. I thought this would be a good starter matchine that I'd eventually replace but wow it does everything I need it too and keeps in ticking. Standard feet fit perfect, I've gotten so many different feet attachments. Can't wait to turn this thing on at the start of every project

I got this for my daughters birthday as she has shown interest in sewing and related activities and she loves it. About the only thing I can say as a con about it, is that as we are true beginners, the instructions could be better. It's not that they are bad, but it is not super clear about every detail which for someone starting out, meant we had to sort some things out ourselves.
