I am "this close" to giving this 5 stars... The ice maker does exactly as it should. When it arrived, I pulled it out of the box, set it up on the counter, gave it an hour for the refrigerant to settle, put some water in it and turned it on. 7 minutes later, I heard the first set of ice cubes drop into the basket. Approximately 6 minutes later, I heard the next set drop in. On and on this went and within about 45 minutes, the basket was full of ice! Very impressive! But I can't quite give it five stars because of a couple of things. First, and this is NOT the fault of this seller, the box that Amazon sent it in was literally falling apart when it arrived at my door. I tested this unit right away, mostly because I was so concerned that it may be damaged and not work! Thankfully, the sellers packaging was excellent and the machine works as intended. Second, the machine seemed to be a bit louder than advertised. Now, I don't have a decibel meter or anything, but I kind of expected "whisper quiet" and it's not quite that while active. It's not bad, just not super quiet. Third, this (and other machines) all advertise being able to make two different sizes of ice bullets. I read the manual front to back three times. It tells you how to set it up, how to clean it, how to trouble shoot some issues, etc. but it does not tell you how to change ice size! I still haven't taken the time to look up exactly how that works, but will do some searching when I need it. All in all, very cool machine! I'm certainly looking forward to putting in our RV for the next camping trip and effectively having ice on demand! ... show more

This ice maker has no refrigeration or insulation in the ice basket and it creates a lot of heat as it freezes the ice. This means that you can end up with a big chunk of ice in the freezer if you wait until the basket is full before you empty it. However, I've found if I store the ice in my drinking mugs in the freezer that doesn't matter much. Also, I have a food mallet and have found that the big chunks of ice separate pretty easily into separate cubes if I bash the chunk with the mallet. Taken together the convenience of having an almost immediate supply of ice makes up for the disadvantages. Edited to add that this unit does indeed have insulation in the ice basket area as I found perfectly frozen ice in the basket in the morning when I thought the water was too low the night before. ... show more

After letting it stand upright a few hours I was ready to test it out. Cleaned it up and filled it up (62 ounce). As advertised in about 6 minutes it produced its first batch of large ice cubes. In 30 minutes I had a 20 ounce pint glass full of ice and in just under 3 hours the add water light came on and I had a full 2 quart pitcher of large ice cubes. After transferring the large cubes to the freezer l, I reset everything and began to produce small ice cubes, or so I thought. After 30 minutes the machine had produced a basket full of ice, but this ice looked to be the same size as the large ice I first produced. So, I pressed over to the "L" button for a batch of Large ice, and low and behold, there is a very small difference in the two settings, I'm not sure anyone would even notice if you present them individually. Overall, fast ice ready to keep drinks cold in just a few minutes. ... show more

Our freezer ice maker wasn't keeping up with us any more (getting older and we were using more ice), so we got this. We originally put it in the kitchen, but it was as loud as a quiet microwave always on, so we moved it to our laundry room. It puts out ice great for about 75 minutes and then fills up (enough to fill one and a half 24 oz waterbottles). Important things to remember: - Reasonably loud - Ice comes out wet by design, so can't add to your freezer (but saves overnight in the refrigerator in an empty cup fine with not too much problem breaking up) - To keep it pumping out ice you need to attend to it every 75 minutes or so. I read alot of reviews on this product, some good, some not so good. What I learned is the first time use it took a very long time to make ice, bullet size and about 8 or 9 cubes at a time. Pretty frustrating. I learned to use cold water, lessens ice making time, ice is wet and will melt but I take it out in small batches, place in sandwich size ziplock, throw in freezer, once ice stabilizes, I smash it in the counter to break it up then move to a gallon size bag. Once full the ice is easily removed from the gallon size bag. So I’ve learned what works for me. ... show more

I had another version of this ice machine many years ago. My freezer water line stopped working may years ago and I have been making ice manually. I'm an ice queen. I have to have a lot of ice in my drinks. So, I bought this one. I usually run it once a week and fill up my ice container. The only real issue is the ice is a bit melted when I put it in the ice container, so sometimes the ice freezes together once in the freezer. Overall for the making of ice once a week, I think this is a good little machine. I don't have a big family and it's only me that uses the ice, so it works for a small family. ... show more

I previously had a similar countertop ice maker from Frigidaire, and it died, so I decided to switch brands. So far, I like this one much better. The ice is a bit harder, so it lasts a bit longer than the older machine's ice. It actually produces ice at a really fast pace, so I never have to wait long. TIP FOR USERS - dump the first couple loads of ice back into the water tank. The colder water results in better ice. After I fill my bottle up with ice, I dump all the extra back into the machine, which makes the water a lot colder so the next rounds of ice freeze more thoroughly. I do it regularly. Nice counter top ice maker. I have just started using it. If you do not get the ice out right away it is wet. I know that sounds funny because it is ice. Excessive sweat maybe? Put in freezer bag and it lumps together not easy to break apart. It makes a bag pretty quick. I just wish i did not have to hurry to get the ice out of it. Does not seem to stay cold enough to keep ice when it finishes making. ... show more
