My initial thought was to test drive one of these and see if it would be an appropriate thing to get for my grandmother. After using it, not only does she need one, but it's gonna have to be her own. I sealed up some herbs that came out of the garden this past fall, of course, after running them through the dehydrator. Normally, they would just go in a jar with a lid on it because I never bothered taking that process any further. First time use blew my mind. The seal was great and after cracking it open weeks later, the aroma was just as good as the day I sealed it, which doesn't happen with just putting a lid on it. The smell tends to dissipate over time. I immediately sealed up everything else I had, because "fresh" herbs all winter!

Ok, this thing is awesome and I didn't know I needed it till I did. This takes out the whole process of canning/sealing the mason jars. Its super easy with a conversion lid for regular mouth lids. Press the button and at least let it go for 40s and it will self stop at 180s. I usually stop at around 45s, bc at some point there's nothing let to vacuum and it's pointless to let it run the whole way thru. You can hear it start to get get higher in sound the less air your jar has. I will say to use the name brand sealing lids and not the ones that come with the product. They do work, but there is a quality difference. There is a pop lid device included and it bends the lids as it's trying to open, but with the name brand, it's a stronger material. I tried my first out by sealing some mason jars of Verde pozole base to put in the freezer and it sealed perfectly. Simple and easy for canning, great for small businesses. Travel size, easy to transport. I know it's an appliance, but I really do like this gadget a lot!

This tool is perfect for sealing my homemade sauerkraut and pickled foods. It works with both regular and wide mouth mason jars. Personally, I don’t use it to replace the canning process because I prefer the heating part of canning to kill bacteria. However, it seals perfectly for short-term storage or long-term storage for my items packed with vinegar. It’s also great for canning dry ingredients. It’s very easy to use - just press the button and it’s done in as little as 40 seconds. And, it’s small enough to store in my gadget drawer. I love it!

Love this thing! It took me a few minutes to figure out how to do wide mouth jars, but you just have to twist the piece and the bottom comes off when it unlocks - then you can do both standard and wide mouth jars. I like to make salsa to keep in the fridge, but three jars can sometimes get a little old before I get to the last one, now I can make it last longer in the fridge and keep it fresh! We even did a couple jars of grapes when they were on sale - works like a charm - love this item and will continue using it!

I love to make my garden last as long as possible by drying the produce and keeping it in jars on the shelf. I have had my eye on these jar sealers for a few years, I finally decided to take the plunge and I am so glad I did. They are surprisingly easy to use, so easy my 6 year can do it and often does, I will ask him to seal things in jars for me and he can! It really is helpful to turn that job over to him. Anyway, I love that it’s easy enough for a child to use and I love that they can feel independent by doing something that is helpful for our family.
