    • My second TotGuard bike and my go to commuter... I love it

This is my second TotGuard bike. My first was was the 350w 26 inch which I purchased last year. In three months, I put 560 miles on it and it ran like a champ. After seeing the 500w 27.5 inch bike up on sale, I had to jump in. With shipping, it came in at $511. At that price, it's almost disposable! As long as I get one good year in, I feel as though that I can always save up for a new bike... though my wife and kids are using the 26 inch model, and it's still riding strong. To be clear, this certainly is an entry level electric bike and it won't perform on the level as more expensive models, but it holds it own. While the 350w struggled on uphill climbs, the 500w makes it much easier. It won't get me up by itself, but it makes the job enjoyable. A few points to note. The 350w peaks at 19 mph, and I was able to pedal just a bit faster, which helped to extend the range. The 500w peaks just shy of 22 mph which I've learned is a bit faster than I normally pedal, which encourages me to push harder. Also, the 350w bike's screen showed 6 bars to indicate battery life, while the 500w only has five, so I'm going to have to relearn range vs battery life. I've ridden the 350w bike from full charge to completely drained, and I made it 31 miles and change. I plan on doing the same with the 500w to see how it compares. This bike is budget friendly and performs exactly as advertised. I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking for an electric/pedal bike. ... show more

This is not my first ebike from this manufacturer. The fact that I bought the same exact bike 2 years later should tell you that it's an excellent product. Pretty much bulletproof. But, as it's the second one, I did insist on some upgrades right out of the box that I would FIRMLY recommend. Let's talk about it. BUY PLENTY OF FULLY METALLIC BRAKE PADS. AS IN 6 PAIRS. It's just as important if not more so, to be able to stop as it is to be able to ride. THORN RESISTANT INNER TUBES. Keep the stocks as emergency spares. Same goes for the tires. REPLACE THE STOCK TIRES WITH SCHWALBE TIRES. Just trust me, keep the stocks as spares, they're not terrible. BIG COMFORTABLE SADDLE. Don't skimp on the saddle, the stock one is ok but it's about comfort so you can ride longer and further. STEM RISER NECESSARY. The stock stem is very short. Very short. And last but not least at all, HIGH GRADE FIREARM LUBRICANT FOR THE BEARINGS AND MOVING PARTS. You'll get thousands more miles by adding a professional grade metal conditioner. That being said, you will end up with one of the most formidable, long lasting, quality made and reliable ebikes around. Here's what I have been through with my first T-276: ran it into a FedEx truck at medium speed; had a head-on collision with another bike at full speed; hit a sidewalk curb at full speed and broke my humerus in 3 places; and got hit standing still by another ebikes doing around 16 mph (that broke my headlight). And to this day, that original bike is running flawlessly with over 3000 miles on it, has gone through 2 sets of tires, and the only thing keeping it from being in perfect shape is a very slight and imperceptible warp to the front tire from hitting that curb. Otherwise, no worse for wear, literally. Oh, I did have to replace the charger but no biggie. I just wanted a new one. I remember searching Amazon trying to find an ebikes that would not be a lemon or a toy. How would I know where to start? It's exhausting. Take my advice and make the small upgrades, and rest assured that you made the best decision: these bikes are golden. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I should have paid more attention to the negative reviews. They all claim the same thing and for not paying much attention it also happened to me. Bought Tot-guard February 10. Weeks later, March 22 the bike completely died. I can’t get refund from Amazon because it’s pass it’s date and seller give me the run around. In the meantime I have a lemon sitting at home. Wasted money. I feel duped. I should have paid more attention to the previous negative reviews. I corresponded w them. Seems like company is in China - with no resolution. In short, a total waste of my hard earned money. Buyer beware. Bike worked for only a month and a week. Now it’s totally dead. ... show more
