  • Good Bike, Terrible Brakes
Color: Orange Size: 27.5 inch
I have had this bike for nearly a year now, and use it for recreational riding with my son. He rides a small motorcycle, and I ride this bike so I can keep pace with him without exhausting myself. The bike is overall a great recreational ride, except for one crucial point: By far, the worst aspect of this bike is the brakes. They are the worst brakes I have ever had on a bike in my 45 years of riding. From day one, they squealed like a old car's worn brakes. From about a week into owning this, I had to tighten the brakes after every ride. They will frequently stop working five minutes into every ride, and I have to resort to Flinstones-style braking. I have destroyed a perfectly good pair of shoes because of these horrendous brakes. I will have to replace the entire braking system to fix the problem. Until then, I will not be riding this. UPDATE 1: I have recently decided that I want to keep riding this bike, so I started investigating the brakes. I have zero experience with disc brakes, so this is all brand new for me. After watching some YouTube videos, I found out how to locate and remove the brake pads. The braking material on all the pads is completely gone, so I ordered two sets of replacements (they are cheap, assuming I bought the right ones). I will update this as my experience unfolds. UPDATE 2: The brake pads arrived, and I was able to replace the front pads easily. With just the front brake pads installed, the bike stops reasonably quickly on both flat surfaces and on a slight incline like I have in my neighborhood. The pads I bought don't fit the rear brakes, so my rear brakes are non-functional. My riding environment is conducive to single-brake riding, so I will probably ride that way until I find replacement pads that fit the rear brakes. On the bright side, though, there is zero squealing from the front brakes now. UPDATE 3: I have had the bike for over a year, and I still ride it when the weather permits. It has been a great investment, and I'm very glad I took a chance on it. The new brake pads not fitting was my own fault. As the old pads wore down over time, I had tightened the calipers so much that there was no room for new pads (any new pads). After loosening the brake calipers to make room for the new pads, they fit like a glove. I have to replace the pads more frequently that I would like, but they're cheap (about $5 per set) so I don't stress over it. ... show more

  • First time with e-Bike - love it so far
Color: Red Size: 27.5 inch
This is my first e-bike. I really like the bike and the overall ride of an e-bike. The 21-speed shifters are different than my old bike so that took a little getting used to. In transit of the bolts for the kickstand came loose in the box. I was able to find the nut and washer but not the bolt. I had a similar one at my workbench so I just substituted it. The assembly was easy but I was a bike tinkerer my whole life, so it wasn't bad. The video was so-so not step by step, but assembly was easy to do. I did have to loosen the top nut on the fork and spin the column so the disk brake was on the left side of the front tire. The video didnt cover how to install the light. Riding the bike is very smooth. One thing I did not know about an e-bike in assist mode, was how it would kick on the engine from time to time to keep my speed fairly constant. That took some getting used to but I really like the feel of that. Lets me get in my work out or let's me assist it with the power of the engine. Hitting the throttle is smooth and the bike gradually gets up to speed. The assist modes are capped - meaning that if I am in mode 1 it wont accelerate past 6.5 MPH. Assist 2 wont accelerate past 12 MPH, and mode 3 is 21MPH. Battery life seems good so far. My college aged son and his friend who bought themselves a one-wheel congratulated me on my purchase and then rode the bike for a while. I'm 6'1" and 215 lbs - great sized bike for me. Should be good for the ranges that they give on the page. One review complained about the brakes. They are disk brakes and perform different than regular brakes that squeeze the tire for sure. I think they might need to be tightened a bit will research that online. Overall a great bike and I recommend it. ... show more

  • Basic Decent EBike Nothing Fancy
Color: Red Size: 27.5 inch
Have ridden , pedaling not just riding on, over 2000 miles now. Have had 3 years. Have had on Mesa in Nevada , Snow covered trails in Ohio.. Ride it daily 25-35 miles. exercise. A very Basic Ebike. BUT does what it does well.. with pedal actually only about 35 mile range. 21 MPH is top except when forced faster pedaling. There are many fancier bikes available BUT if looking for entry level and seeing if you will even use it, this is a quality pick. I am Upgrading But wanted to share real world about the one I started with. Would Buy again.. Passing it on to a grand son. ... show more

  • Fun cheap beginner electric bike
Color: Orange Size: 27.5 inch
Easy setup, took about 30 minutes. 3 Pedal assist modes at 6mph, 12mph and 21mph. The throttle maxes out at whatever pedal assist speed setting chosen. A few minor things Iโ€™d change but nothing crucial. The speedometer doesnโ€™t register speeds higher than the set pedal assist mode. So, if you are in pedal assist 6mph, going downhill youโ€™ll hit well over 6mph but the speedometer will continue to show 6mph. Not a huge deal, but would be nice to know actual speeds. Seat is pretty narrow and I swapped it out with another seat I liked. Tire tread is pretty small, will likely wear down fast and need replaced. Overall, Iโ€™ve done about 30 miles on the bike so far and itโ€™s pretty fun to use, hills are no challenge anymore. Used the bike in various speed modes along a mostly flat bike trail and was at half battery left at 25 mile mark โ€ฆ so pretty decent range and compares to advertised battery life. Overall, happy with the purchase so far for the price. Cheap option for a starter bike, hoping it lasts multiple years. ... show more
