It's a little on the heavy side, but is well balanced, even with the heavy 4Ah battery. I have a pretty large yard, and have used it over a couple of days and still have not had to recharge the battery yet. This baby has a lot of power that easily cuts thru the many Bradford pear tree shoots that are all around my trees. Tapping the head on the ground to advance the trimmer line works extremely well. I don't have to pound it on the ground, just a light tap on the ground works great. The automated/powered line loading is a fantastic feature. I bought this to weedeat on some property that we bought. I love that it is battery powered and quiet. It does a great job trimming the grass and weeds. It is well balanced and easy to use. It is easy to restring, as well.

I want to give the EGO POWER PLUS string trimmer 5 stars but I am hold it at 4 stars because the thing is heavy with the 4 AH battery. Darn its heavy without the battery. That said this is a serious machine for cutting almost anything grass related. Lots of torque and lots of cutting force. I actually went out and also bought their Self-Propelled 21" mower with 10 AH battery from a local hardware whose name is a playing card. This manufacturer is serious about E-power just look at their lineup of products. They are very well made and attention to detail is amazing. The Trimmer with a 4 AH is heavy but balanced and great value for the money. The customer service is at first impression excellent as they answered the phone in under 2 minutes over two different calls. The Rep Irene (or Ilene) was excellent and knowledgeable. She walked me through the Specs on two models and went into details like the difference in torque and battery life. What more could I ask for?? They and their products are like Sears in the old days !!! ... show more

    • Terrible Customer Service For Defective Product!

DO NOT buy ANYTHING from this company. They have LOUSY customer service and they allow DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS to leave the factory, apparently untested. I should have checked this thing out IMMEDIATELY after purchase so I could have SENT IT RIGHT BACK to Amazon during their 30 day grace period. Mine came complete with a defective battery OR charger and won't run at all. I registered the tool, the battery, and the charger on their site which took considerable time, due to the fact that each piece had to be registered separately. THIS WAS A WASTE OF TIME because when I called them I was told that I would have to take a screenshot of my invoice and attach it to an email that they would send me, then send that to them. THEN I could CALL them so thy could "troubleshoot" the problem OVER THE PHONE. The damned charger indicates that it is a defective battery, which should have NEVER left the factory. It is obvious that they have ZERO QUALITY CONTROL. ALSO, why should I have to provide them a screenshot. I am 66years old and haven't got a clue as to how to do this( although I did try to learn ) and NO OTHER COMPANY THAT I HAVE DEALT WITH REQUIRES ANYTHING MORE THAN AN AMAZON ORDER NUMBER! I explained this to them and I was told TOUGH LUCK! IF I did this screenshot thing, just what is to troubleshoot when their charger INDICATES A BAD BATTERY. I am out over $150 on this piece of crap and want to get the word out to all seniors and anybody that isn't any more tech savvy than I am that they SHOULD NOT DO BUSINESS WITH EGO! So my beloved old Snapper one finally broke and I had to cave in buying a new trimmer, since I am the wheedwackerlady in our house... And THIS thing is a BEAST!!!! Meaning: Powerful, super easy to use and lasts FOREVER!!!! The battery is more powerful than my last, so I did feel its weight a little in my wrist, but thankfully I got the strap, so once I had it all adjusted perfectly, I went and cleaned out the entire dog enclosure (roughly 40 by 50 feet) plus around the entire house and trees in the front and the garage and the barn ..... all with one charge - and in the end I still had TWO BARS left!!!! IMPRESSIVE!!!! My favorite is the easy use - it only needs a tiny tap and VOILA the string is perfectly long again (which is immediately audible) - and it cuts EVERYTHING that is willing to try to stand up against it LOL!!! I first bought this Ego line trimmer, not being sure about battery operated tools. I was so pleased with this trimmer that I have added the hedge trimmer and blower. It works well for me on the front and back yard. Batteries charge really fast as well. Two batteries work fine for me, but might add a third battery when I buy the edger. ... show more

Ordered this model twice; had to send one back and jury rigged the second. The problem is that the trimmer is shipped folded in half. You have to unfold it and screw it together. Unfortunately, with the first trimmer I ordered the holes didn't align so I couldn't put it together. The second trimmer also had misaligned holes, and I didn't want the hassle of sending it back, so I jury rigged it with a nut and bolt. Once I had the thing together it worked well and has good power with the 4.0Ah battery. As some other reviewers have said-it is a little heavy and could use a strap. ... show more
