    • Well-balanced powerful trimmer
First the positives: this trimmer really cuts! The last trimmer I had sort of trimmed but had trouble with the Asian jasmine in my yard. Also, the cord would continually fray down to the spool and it was difficult to get it started again. The EGO has power to spare. The cord with which it comes is fairly thick, and does not have to be extruded often. When it does fray, the extrusion works more smoothly than in my previous trimmer, though it is not completely flawless. The battery lasts a long time compared to the old trimmer. A downside of the EGO is its weight, which arises chiefly from the monstrous battery. To give credit to the designers, the handle for the trimmer is positioned between the battery and the head, so the trimmer is well balanced and does not feel as heavy as one might expect. I have relatively weak upper body strength and have no difficulty working with it. Still, I’d be reluctant to buy it for use by an elderly parent. Another issue is the claim that the trimmer is “foldable.” The folding requires a hex wrench, so the folding feature is useful if you’re putting the trimmer away for the winter, but for overnight storage—or even for the week—much less so. Grass trimmer is easy to use and does a good job. Battery charges quickly and last more than 40 minutes. Restringing is not as easy as advertised, but not difficult. .090 string is great for most trimming. Very happy with the unit.

This appears to be a fine piece of equipment. It operates very smoothly and was easy to assemble. However, I ordered the EGO trimmer in May of 2021 and received a trimmer that was manufactured in February of 2020, rather than a new one. That was disappointing. Otherwise, all is it was portrayed to be in the advertising. Thank you. ... show more

    • Best Trimmer I've Ever Had
I've been brand loyal to Black & Decker for decades, and I have had a number of their string trimmers. I've been marginally satisfied with them, not unsatisfied anyway. But when my latest started experiencing the inevitable battery recharge issues, I thought about getting a new one instead of just new batteries. I found while pricing it out that you're in the same ballpark as a new trimmer when you get a spare battery. So I went to Consumer Reports, and they recommended this Ego trimmer. AND THANK YOU CONSUMER REPORTS! It is so, so much better than my old trimmer. I didn't know a trimmer could be this good. It has all the power you could ever need, and the battery goes on forever.     • One of the best trimmers I ever owned!
This is a awesome weed trimmer, I've had used gas trimmers and they work good. But comparing to this battery powered trimmer, I can say it's the best trimmer I owned! I have a large 7 acre land with a lot of trees, with the lightweight of this trimmer I can get done trimming quicker. Now the only down side I have with the trimmer is the battery doesn't keep it charge long but hey I rather sit and wait for the battery to charge then mix gas. One last thing is having this trimmer or anything battery powered, your not polluting the earth with that nasty gas! ... show more

Unit is easy to assemble. Initial battery charge takes a while but after installing in the unit, it came to life and was very easy to use. Only drawback is for short people (5' tall or less) the long shaft is somewhat unwieldy. Unit does get heavy after about 30 minutes of use, but then it's usually time to stop and have a cool one anyway. ... show more

Great weedeater got the ego power set and are all simple to use simple to start and efficient. Great not having to worry about buying gas every time and having long cords in the way. Smaller lawn but work great.
