  • This is a well-designed, easy to use machine which works well for moderate amounts of snow
Style: Auger-Propelled (No Battery/Charger)
A year ago we moved to a suburb house with a 3-car driveway. I swapped my big snowblower for this EGO single stage battery-operated snowblower. So far I've only used it once but it was with a wet, heavy type of snow that would have been difficult, maybe impossible, for me to shovel. I should point out that this EGO snowblower is a single stage model. Single stage snowblowers do not have the capacity to handle heavy snow as well as the two stage snowblowers. Nevertheless, this EGO snowblower did pretty well. It was able to throw this 2 inch, very heavy snow sufficiently well to clear my 3-car driveway and the sidewalk in front of my house and my neighbors house, though it couldn't throw it very far. This snowblower uses two 56 V batteries. The batteries ran down after approximately 25 minutes. The snowblower was delivered in a box which arrived on time and in good condition. It was surprisingly easy to set it up. In fact, there really wasn't much to do other than to unfold the arms, attached the chute and put in the batteries. That was very easy and only took about 10 or 15 minutes to do. The instructions were clear and the operation only required one torx wrench which was provided along with two screws to attach the chute. In sum, I'm pleased with this snowblower and, as long as you needs are moderate, I think you will be also. There is one thing of critical importance. This snowblower comes in two models; auger-driven and not auger-driven. With the auger-driven model, which is what I have, the auger drives the snowblower forward so you don't have to push it. When you lift up on the handles a little bit, the auger contacts the ground and pulls the snowplower forward as it throws the snow. That makes it a lot easier. With the non-auger-driven model, you have to push the snowblower forward yourself. That's a lot more work, especially if you have a bad back. I would only buy the auger driven one. A few more things. There is a handle with which you control the direction the chute throws the snow and the distance. It works well. Also, there is a light so you can work in the dark, and there are heated hand grips. Finally, this snowblower is light and folds up so that it fits into a small space. In my opinion, this is a very well design machine. ... show more

  • This tool does not include the required batteries.
Style: w/Heated Handles (No Battery/Charger)
Pros: - Decent bang for the buck - Minimal easy assembly - Muscles through snow - Easy to adjust chute - Heated handle grips - LED Lights Cons: - Batteries not included - Folding the handle in for storage requires adjusting the chute for clearance - Occasionally catches on uneven surface seams I have to say first, that I don't have experience using other snowblowers. However, I moved to a location where it snows decently in the winter. Since I already own a line of EGO summer equipment, I already had batteries that were not in use during the winter months. Since this model is offered without batteries, it offers a lower price point. It arrived quickly, and I was able to attach the chute with the included hex key tool. The lights and heated handles are great, but of course what matters is that it works well and delivers powerful performance while not draining the batteries much. Also, the fact that it permits the use of two different sized batteries is perfect, since this is my case. I use 10.0 and 7.5 AH batteries and was able to use it three times on my driveway and sidewalk before recharging. I think this snowblower was a good decision overall, so I'm giving it 5/5 stars. ... show more

  • Worked Pretty Well On One Battery On Its Inaugural Outing
Style: w/Steel Auger (No Battery/Charger)
The media could not be loaded. Last week we had our first decent snowfall of ~7-8" in suburban Minneapolis which allowed me to try out the snowblower I bought to replace our 25 year old 2 stroke snowblower that decided not to start this winter. I bought an E-Go lawn mower last summer that came with a 10Ah battery, so I bought the snowblower without a battery, hoping the single battery would work okay. I was a little nervous this might not work out as I wasn't seeing any reviews running the snowblower on just one battery. I am pleased to report that the battery held up, running the blower at full speed to clear three ~20'x40' driveways. E-Go says the blower can throw snow 40'. That may be true - certainly it threw the snow an impressive distance, but what I found was, at full speed, the unit blew snow in every direction. I and the snowblower were completely encased in snow very quickly (see attached pictures). This might not have happened if I slowed down the speed, but my primary goal was to test out the battery. A fair amount of snow fell into the battery compartment when I took the battery out. The snow was pretty stuck on the snowblower and did not melt off in the garage for the next several days because it is not warm like a gas-powered unit. Overall, I thought the snowblower worked pretty well. It is sweet that there is no yanking on a cord to get it to start or blue smoke filling the garage. I liked the easy swivel of the chute compared to the crank on our old Toro. However, it is more difficult to push than our old blower, particularly over driveway transitions. I think that is because it has metal blades compared to the rubber thing on the old unit. The 10Ah batteries are super expensive, so I don't think I will ever recover the cost compared to gas. Also, the E-Go unit case is all plastic - I don't think I'll get 25 years out of this snowblower. Time will tell. ... show more
