I have a EGO trimmer and a EGO chainsaw which I love so I figured I would give the hedge trimmer a shot. Purchased it a couple weeks ago...tool only as I have 2 batteries already...and just used it for the first time. I was not disappointed. So much easier than using my electric hedge trimmer. Best of all, NO extension cord to mess with. The 24 inch blade made quick work of my trimming. The one inch gap was great, it cut branches my electric could not. I did not time actual run time...best guess, close to an hour...but no concerns about how long the battery lasted. Was still going strong when I finished. It is a little weighty with the battery but I knew that was going to be the case when I purchased it. Not having to mess with an extension cord, the power, the blade length, the one inch gap, the battery life more than compensate for the extra weight.

The long reach of this tool allows more trimming per sweep. The 1" cut allows trimming of larger shrubbery. The battery allows at least 45 minutes of work, and maybe more. While the size of the trimmer allows a lot of work, it is a bit heavy when the battery is added. Not necessarilly a tool for the wife. Personnally, I am quite pleased with the trimmer and would recommend it for everyone,.

Nice, light, and powerful. Much better than the corded one I have. Less hassle and you don't have to worry about cutting the cord. No fun fighting with a 2-stroke gas one, either. Nice to be able to share batteries with all the other Ego tools, too.

First, the seller. They sold me a used unit. Obvious battery scratches. Debris in the oil and on the plastic. Like someone opened the box, tested it outdoors, maybe used it once, sent it back. The unit works fine, but Im paying for a new product and getting a used product. Im gonna complain to Amazon about this seller. So far, my experience with EGO products is good. The chainsaw I have is good. Well thought out. This trimmer has really good safety devices. And I like the 56v battery system. Id consider their Mower that uses this battery and maybe a power converter for power outages or picnics or beach parties to recharge electronics many times over. I haven’t used their products long so I don’t know their reliability. The battery does make it heavy but not horribly heavy for a medium sized person. I should think a metal loop and a shoulder harness could be devised and accessorized to aid in these types of hand held tools. Consumer Reports rated it highly which is why I gave it a shot. My thinking is: get a company battery and stick to those products. For small tools, I use DeWalt 20v. But for 56v region Ill stick with EGO until I have a reason not to. In hindsight, I should have bought this from Lowes or some other company than Amazon. For all I know, Amazon warehouses these and they are to blame. Still, paying new for a used item is a ahitty thing to do to a customer for online purchases so Ive been weening myself off Amazon to support Brick & Mortar businesses so they don’t go away. I could have easily returned this, but the time to re-box, drive, gas money, traffic, all for what, delays for a needed tool and lost time & money? So I sucked it up and kept it. But I did write about this bad practice.

this is a terrific hedge trimmer. I previously owned a gasoline powered trimmer but got tired of dealing with a carburetor issue whenever I needed it. That and the fact that it was heavy and with all the use that I gave to the trimmer, it wore you out by the time you were down cutting a significant number of ornamental grasses and hedges. This trimmer is incredibly light weight. And I do mean light weight. Compared to the gasoline powered trimmer, it feels like it is at least half the weight, if not even more than that. The carbon rail makes quite a difference. It has a surprising amount of power for a battery powered machine and easily cut everything I needed to cut including some hedge branches that were around 1/2" - 5/8" in diameter. If I am going to cut anything larger than that, I generally will use lopping shears or even a chain saw depending on their thickness but for most folks doing general pruning and trimming of ornamental grasses and hedges and shrubs, this thing is a winner! The only thing I could suggest as a minor drawback is that I believe the blade could be even sharper than it already is from the manufacturer. Out of the box it cuts just fine, but I like to keep my trimmers very, very sharp as they cut cleaner. The blade assembly is easy to sharpen however and there are instructions included with the trimmer as to how to do this. I went over mine with a small file and it is now definitely sharp. for the price, I believe this a good value and I am quite pleased with it!

I bought my EGO hedge trimmer because I needed one and because I have several other EGO products. This trimmer is awesome! I've used it a few times and it vastly exceeded my expectations. Out of the box it was ready to go; I only needed to charge the battery and oil the blade. It cuts through the toughest material like butter. It will cut a one inch branch easily. It makes short work of even the toughest jobs. With a cordless trimmer there's no cord to lug around or cut. I love that you have to use both hands to use the trimmer, so it's very safe to use. The battery lasted longer on a charge than the hour advertised. It's sturdy, safe and sharp. EGO products are a little expensive but worth every penny.
