This is a great chainsaw. Period. I really don't have to say much more, but I will. Here are the pro's. 1. Built well 2. Lightweight 3. Powerful enough for most work 4. Great battery life (much more than I expected..I cut heavy honeysuckle scrub up to about 4-6" diameter for about 4-5 hours until the ONE battery gave up the ghost.) 5. Fast battery charging. Easy to see / understand batter charge LED. 6. Battery holds charge a long time when not in use. 7. Safety hand guard works well as a secondary lockout. 8. Good lubrication oil filler 9. Chain tension adjustment really easy. 10. No "pull to start" arm whiplash. Just pull the trigger....and cut. 11. It's QUIET! 12. You won't need to drain the gas, etc. for longer storage. Cons.... 1. Chain stretches when new. Simple. It happens with all chainsaws, and in this case, it's far easier to adjust the tension than many other saws. (This really isn't about this saw, but ALL chainsaws in general.) 2. Maybe not powerful as gas....but that's ok for most uses around the home. 3. Batteries will run out of juice and need to be recharged. Gas saws...just fill it up. Not so easy for battery if you don't have the time or a plug for the charger. (Maybe get 2 or more batteries....) 4. It doesn't have the Vrooooooom of a typical gas chainsaw...if you are into that sort of thing. Overall...if you are not a lumberjack, just a "do it yourself" homeowner that needs to cut stuff periodically, this is the way to go. I bought this chain saw to replace a 16" WEN battery-powered model that was leaking oil like crazy. After reviewing every model available and viewing dozens of videos, I chose the EGO. After I had made my independent assessment, I checked Consumer Reports and was delighted to see that they rated this chain saw #1 on their list of battery-powered chain saws. It's also one of the only battery-operated models that comes with an 18" blade. Upon inserting the battery in the charger, I saw it was already half charged. The battery has a visible display that shows how much the battery is charged and changes throughout the charging process. The battery is quite heavy, which adds to the overall weight of the product. However, the chain saw is exceptionally well balanced so you don't really feel it. The quality appears top-notch. My only issue is that the blade brake seems a little flimsy, as if it could break after a lot of usage. I suspect it won't, but it just feels that way. It has an integrated LED light which has two settings, and it is incredibly bright. I don't know if I'll ever need this feature but it's nice to know it's there if you need it. As for cutting, I can only say it's INCREDIBLE. To test it out, I cut through a 12" log, and it literally cut like butter. I don't think it took 10 seconds for each cut. Admittedly, I'm using a brand new blade, but with occasional sharpening I suspect that all my future cuts will be easy. I also love that it has an automatic chain tensioning system. Turn the large wheel and it tightens to the correct tension. On my WEN and I believe most other brands, you need to turn a big knob to loosen the blade, then rotate a wheel until you get the tension YOU think is right. The EGO system is much better. I haven't used it enough yet to report on battery life, but every review I've read or video I've seen indicates that the battery will last. This is simply an incredible chain saw. And Amazon had the best price -- $30 less than Lowe's. ... show more

Perfect and no Gas mess or inconvenience. Still need bar oil but that’s fine. Less noise than gas and in my experience as powerful as gas saw. Easy to use but still requires same safety gear. Safety first!! I would not say it replaces a pro sawyer tree service saw etc.., but for the heavy duty diy guy and landscaping service guys it’s a good choice. Great for the landscaping service who do business where noise reduction is an issue, I’ve owned Sthil, Jonserude , huskvarna Echo. All good brands but this one has a place in my tool crib. Real nice for the wood turning guy who needs to cut some bowl blanks out behind the shop or in the shop because no fumes from gas saw or safety issues of gas engine indoors. It won't replace a gas saw for someone doing real work; but for a camping saw, general sporadic use around a homestead, an emergency ready tool, etc. It's very good. Battery lasts longer than I would have thought, I'm using the 2.5 ah unit and was pleasantly surprised. Charges the battery pretty wuickly as well. Power is pretty good. Pleasantly quiet. You can use it when a gas saw would definitely be inappropriate, such as at a campground when there's someone camping next to you. Oiler is very frugal. I actually wish it oiled a bit more for peace of mind, but bar and chain are holding up fine so far. Make sure you get the new version with the metal dogs and better switchgear and handle. I handled the old version locally and there is a visible and tactile difference. Update: Very susceptible to performance loss in cold weather. It was basically unusable on a camping trip where overnight Temps got into the low to mid 20s (F). ... show more

Does not come with oil so make sure you put some in. Putting the oil in and checking it is very easy. Battery is easy to take on/off. Chain is easy to adjust. Cuts like a good small gas powered saw.
