I was gifted a EGO string trimmer with battery. Restrung the trimmer, each time the on lever was engaged the trimner spun and stopped. Ordered the charger which quickly arrived well packed new condition, read the instructions, the battery size, charger model# could be charged with this unit. The battery was dead, the charging green light did not flash to indicate it was being charged, it remained a solid green indicating a full charge this was not the case, the charger cooling fan did not come on. Left the battery on the charger for a long period with 0 charge. Yup bad battery, the charger is working perfectly it indicated a defective battery as indicated in the user book. New replacement battery is $100 plus, since we are entering the wintery season I will postpone investing in a new battery for now.

This charger draws 180 watts when charging. This means the battery will be charged more slowly than a high wattage charger. Unless you’re in immediate need of a charged battery, a slow charge is best. Slow results in better battery life both in each individual cycle and overall longevity of the battery. The charger has a small fan that runs continuously during charging, preventing the battery from becoming excessively warm during charging; again prolonging battery life, both short and long term. Charger is light, but plastic housing seems tough and well constructed. I’m happy with my purchase.

These ~$30 Ego Ch2100 slow Chargers have only 1 fan but the $100 warranted version has 2, where the 2nd upper fan pulls air through the battery (cooling it) then out of the charger via a shroud. With only a single fan here, the 90º circuit heat rises into the battery - heating it, shortening its life and negating the advantages of slow charging. A spare fan jack for this (FAN-JACK1) is on the top left corner of the board in the photo. The one OEM fan is decent for its low cost but moves warm air up through the battery. This add-on fan does not void the (nonexistent [3rd party vendor] warranty), but will save hundreds on replacement batteries over the years by slow, cool charging. Almost all batteries degrade due to warmth, both in use and while charging, as well as being stored fully charged for long periods or in hot outbuildings, or being used full to empty. Ideally, lithium batteries would be used only between (roughly) 25%-75% charge and stored at 35-40% in ~60ºF. Violating these precepts can reduce charge cycles from several thousand down to a few hundred. I used the Noctua 40mmx20mm NF-A4 x 20 FLX for this add-on. The pin on the outside of the circuit board is + and the inside pin is -. Therefore the Black and red on the Noctua connector need to be switched. If you know how to do this and have the right tool, do so. If not, cut the cable, trim the sheath and use the thoughtfully included splicers. The yellow wire is irrelevant. In the photo of the top cover you will see a center slot with 4 tabs into which the fan fits perfectly. I used double stick tape on the sides and a dab of epoxy at each corner. See the LED wire at the bottom of the cover? This procedure is MUCH easier if you just slip that wire out of its slot. Remove the board, slip the new fan in oriented to blow inward and reorient 180º the OEM fan to blow outward. Cool air now will enter the battery and the OEM fan - now exhausting, will cool the circuitry better. Attach the connectors, route the cable. Done. Getting the bottom cover on is a little tricky. I found that by just turning it back and forth repeatedly it will eventually just fall into place. The cover's 4 screws have T10 security heads.

We love our quiet mower but after 3 years we had charging issues. So we got this replacement charger. It works great if your battery is okay. LoL. Apparently it's our battery, not the charger. A neighbor let us try their battery and everything worked just fine. The fan comes on, on this charger. Lights work correctly too. Didn't take long for it to charge his battery. Awesome charger. We'll still keep it, it's good to have an extra. We just need to replace our battery now. Glad the price was good on this.

This was a charger for my hedge trimmer. It's important to note the amperage of the battery charging. Ego claims that the batteries are interchangeable, but I hadn't noticed the amperage in the batteries and the battery I got fried my previous charger. It's a little noisy while charging, but when it's done it has a solid green light, so there isn't ambiguity. The charger that went with my lawn mower battery, you never knew for sure if it was full if you stick a battery on the charger other than the noise stopping.

Exact OEM replacement for EGO batteries. Mine has died after 5 years. Grabbed this one and once it arrived, registered it with EGO, plugged it in and went to charging. Charge speed was consistent with the original and for the price, good value.
