    • I love these pencils!
This is the third time I am buying Studio Series colored pencils. Originally, I'd gotten a set of 30 as a gift and I wore them to nubs from using them so much. So I bought another set of 30 to replace those. Then I saw this set of 50 tin and I decided to buy it to get more shades. I love them! For one thing, the new set features even softer leads that blend rather well with a prisma blender, however, like their less waxy predecessors, they aren't as waxy or soft as Prisma which I find too soft very often. I think Studio Series is a nice middle ground between super wxy and super chalky (like bargain brands), The colors are vibrant and the pencils last a while, though if you color everyday with the set as I do, you will wear your favorite colors before long. They are a more substantial pencil than the Crayolas and are best sharpened with the Studio Series sharpener also on amazon, which has a narrow and wide point sharpener option. I have not had any broken leads with the new set when I use the wide sharpener for colored pencils. These are very reasonably priced and if they offered a 100 box, like Crayola does, I'd absolutely buy it. The pencils lay in plastic formed grooves so you can keep them organized, just as you can with the set of 30. This set has a tin for storage and 50 pencils. Their set of 30 has a plastic carrier and comes with a metal single sharpener and a white eraser. The leads on the set of 30 I last bought in 2018 were not as waxy as this new set, but still applied color very well. I will continue to buy Studio Series pencils for the majority of my coloring work. I really prefer them for many projects. ... show more

These pencils are soft and gives my pictures a soft and balanced look. Blending is even and easy to achieve the look I like. No problem when I sharpen them, I use Afmat sharpener which I also purchased from Amazon awhile ago..these are by far my favorite colored pencils...

    • My favorite color pencils!
I’ve been wanting this set forever! I purchased my first set of Studio Series Color Pencils set of 30 in 2016. I’ve been using those color pencils ever since, and they are now much smaller! I love the smoothness of color, and I love that I can go from light to dark, depending on the pressure. I was wanting more variety in colors, since I tend to mostly use the greens, blues, pinks, and purples. I only use my Studio Series color pencils in my ocean-themed coloring book. I’m excited to get started in my hobby once again; it’ll be perfect right now! Thank you! <3 ... show more

I love these colored pencils. They’re very soft and durable, yet so pigmented. They glide on paper and you don’t have to press hard at all. The only thing I think could make these better is if the pencils with some form of identification as to what color they were supposed to be. The backs of the pencils do have the colors on them but some don’t match very well. ... show more

I love these! I just use them in coloring books but they’re soooo much smoother and blend way easier than crayola pencils. They’re a great price and feel good while using them. I’m not a pro but they offer me enough flexibility to do fun shading!

    • Great array of colors, except...
The set comes with a great variety of subtle shade differences in color, but there are a number of issues that should be corrected. First, the pencils are not numbered so there is no easy way to find the shade you have used before, as the differences are very subtle. Second, the set of 50 pencils came with only 49 pencils and without numbers there is no way to know what color is missing. Third, the only color coding for the set is painted on the metal box that the set comes in and the painted colors are not a true representation of the actual colors of the pencil. Fourth, the non-point ends of the pencils are painted also and the color or the paint does not match the color of the pencil. Lastly, the pencil colors are not arrayed by any logical color order to help determine the actual spectrum. So, overall, the set is extremely frustrating. ... show more
