  • This can keep up!!
Style: Plug Pattern Name: DC18SF
I run through about ten 5.0 batteries a day at work. This charger keeps up with them. At the end of the day I put the last used batteries on the charger and come back to ten fully charged. The unit shuts off after no change in use once batteries are charged. It's genuine Makita, not a knockoff. The only downfall is it only charges two batteries at a time. 1 and 3, and 2 and 4. Im sure due to heat (which i have not experienced). Not a problem if you have multiple. Mounts well. I'd buy again. ... show more

  • Wish I had bought this sooner.
Style: Plug Pattern Name: DC18SF
I hemmed and hawed about this purchase for a long time and finally pulled the trigger. For just a few bucks more than the dual charger, I got this one that can charge 2+2. The big selling point for me was that it is wall mountable. I am fixing up a basement utility room as my home workshop and I want as many things out of the way as possible. I frequently use more than 4 of my Makita cordless tools at a time so being able to keep all the batteries fresh is a big deal. If you are in that position as well, I highly recommend this charger over some of the other options. I am not going to go into the same detail as other reviewers, I think they have answered the bulk of the questions and discussed the chargers capabilities and drawbacks. I do want to point out one thing: The LEDs will flash as long as this thing has power. I am OCD and that bothers me so I will be installing it with a switched outlet so I can turn the whole thing off when I am not using it. ... show more

  • Fantastic Charger For Container Boxes
Style: Plug Pattern Name: DC18SF
The 1 star reviews complain about only charging 2 at a time. It’s supposed to. It’s a deliberate tradeoff. I have an extension cord running to my container box where this is plugged in. This allows you to effectively “queue up” 2 batteries to be charged immediately after your first 2 are charged. If you want to charge 4 at a time then get 2 of the dual port chargers — HOWEVER then you’ll pull more amps which may exceed the capacity of your extension cord based on its gauge and length. ... show more

  • Though I have to admit I was disappointed about this since I'm crazy about products made in ...
Style: Plug Pattern Name: DC18SF
One of the deciding factor for purchasing this is because it mentioned origin is "JAPAN", well I received made in Chine. But that's not the reason for not giving it a 5 star. Though I have to admit I was disappointed about this since I'm crazy about products made in Japan. Anyway, be well informed this unit is 120V 50-60Hz, "NOT 220/240V". Now about the real topic and that's about the charging process. It will charge maximum of only two batteries at a time, NOT 4 so be warned. Take note: ONLY 2 at a time, "BUT ONLY IF".....here we go, "IF" you insert the two batteries on "PORT 1 and PORT 3". Let's be very clear, if you put the two batteries on PORT 1 and PORT 2, it will only charge "PORT 1 first, then PORT 2 after no. 1 is fully charged. With 2 batteries at PORT 1 & 2 you will notice that PORT 1 red light will blink (means charging in progress) but PORT 2 red light is only lit (means standby, waiting for no. 1 to fully charge) These ports works in pair, quite confusing at the beginning. Bare in mind, PORT 1 & 3 charges batteries together, PORT 2 & 4 charges batteries together. If you put 4 batteries at the same time. 1 & 3 must be fully charged first before 2 & 4 can begin the charging process. When the battery is fully charged, the green light will turn on where the battery is inserted. I wish I can just put my batteries on whichever port I want then let it charge 1, 2, 3 or 4 batteries altogether, but with this unit, you must understand how these pairs work. Otherwise you'll be confused, disappointed and would consider returning the product and give it an undeserved bad review. On my part I knew it's 120V 50/60Hz, in advanced I read in some review that it only charge 2 at a time. It's just a matter of understanding how the charging process goes. Four star for me because there's room for improvement about this product for future models. And one more thing, if you'll be charging only one battery, it doesn't matter which port you'll use. Green fast blinking green light means that port is ready to charge a battery, once you install the battery, it will turn the red light on, plus the blinking of the green light beside it will be slower, but still blinking, when the battery is fully charged it will change from red to green light, green light on but not blinking, and the other green light beside it continuously blinks but this time fast blink. Note: the manual included said both red and green is on during charging process, but the actual light 'on' is only red, if you install an almost fully charged battery, actually it a fully charged one, then both red and green will turn on, but only for a minute, maybe only seconds then red light turns off, green is on, battery is fully charged I'm satisfied with my purchase, but this product are for those who are willing to learn how the charging process really works. Hope this review helps, if not, we're all adults, so go figure it out, plus the built for me, of this product is strong. Hopefully it will last for a very long time, well most of my tools does since I use them with care. ... show more

  • Why just charge 1 or 2?

Dead batteries are useless. With this 4-up charger you can rapidly replenish your power and get back to work. Well worth it!

  • Stick with real Makita chargers!
Style: Plug Pattern Name: DC18SF
Get the legitimate Makita version. Another 4 bay off-brand was very lightweight compared to even a real Makita two battery charger. I didn't feel confident about it, so I paid the extra for this one.

  • Terribly expensive at $498 but you can only charge 2 batteries together and NOT 4
Style: Plug Pattern Name: DC18SF
This review is for "Makita DC18SF 18V Lithium-Ion Rapid Optimum 4-Port Charger, 1-Pack,Black". This was a bundled product that came with two (2) 18V 6.0Ah batteries, with the product package costing $498 (excl. tax). I am terribly disappointed with the charger (not the included batteries). Let me ask you why would you need a 4 battery charging port? I think the logical and common sense answer is: "so you could charge 4 batteries at the same time". Well, that is exactly what IT DOES NOT DO. I spent a little over $500 for this product. And it was only revealed to me through experience AFTER I received the charger and tried charging four (4) 18V Makita batteries at the same time that THE CHARGER CAN ONLY CHARGE TWO (2) BATTERIES AT THE SAME TIME, AND NOT FOUR as one would expect!!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me?!!! Why would you put 4 battery charging ports in there then?!?!???? and why would you sell it as a 4 port charger???? Apparently, you can only charge 2 batteries at the same time in ports 1 and 3, or in ports 2 and 4. This was a serious let down. What is the purpose of this product if it can only charge two batteries and not 4, because there is a 2 battery charger that I think Makita line already has, so why this product. It does not make any sense. Value for Money: 1 Star out of 5 Easy to Use: 2 Stars out of 5 Durability: 3 Stars out of 5 The ease of use is alright, it's pure common sense to install the battery. And durability portion should also be alright, or so at least I hope since it is Makita, although "Made in China". All in all, It is ENTIRELY DISAPPOINTING to have a 4 port charger THAT ONLY CHARGES 2 BATTERIES AT THE SAME TIME, and will not charge 4. I tried charging 4 Makita batteries together, and just as the owner's manual states, only the batteries in ports 1 and 3 charged, while the batteries in ports 2 and 4 were in standby. Once you take the batteries out of ports 1 and 3 (after they recharge), only then ports 2 and 4 start to recharge. ... show more

  • Great Addition for Everything Makita
Style: Plug Pattern Name: DC18SF
Granted, most Makita people don't need this. However, if you have 12 Makita LXT tools and Batteries with matching Makita luggage, THIS IS FOR YOU! It neatly holds and automatically charges 4 Makita batteries, it will charge 2 of those batteries at a time, then switch to the other two. It has integrated mounting holes in the bottom, so it can be mounted on a wall, clearing up workbench space. The directions state that batteries can be safely stored on the charger, the computer will keep them charged appropriately, this has worked for me. ... show more
