  • nice have
This egg incubator works really well! It is easy to set up and keeps the temperature steady. The clear cover makes it fun to watch the eggs. The instructions are simple, and the eggs hatched right on time. It is a great choice for anyone learning about hatching eggs!

  • Humidity issues.
First off, instruction booklet is Retarded small with fine print. Paper too cheap to make such a small print instruction manual. Inconsistency in manufacturing process. 2 idetical products with wire tie positions different and part placement variable.

  • Good incubator
The media could not be loaded. This is a nice incubator. It has presets for different eggs. It has easy heat controls, an egg candler, top vent, and humidity tracking. It even has cabling for hooking up a battery in case of a power outage. The only thing I didn't like about this incubator was the bottom insulation. All incubators use styrofoam as an insulation against drafts and for even heating. This machine's styrofoam covers the entire viewing area. The only way to check your eggs is to lift the entire lid which lets out your environment. Your best option is to run it without the insulation which isn't ideal. ... show more

  • Amazing set of features!!
This incubator has more features larger capacity than others at this price point. Setup was easy and i had it was running in roughly 10 minutes. Took the incubator roughly 15min to reach 100.4'F for chickens. There was an alarm going off at first due to low temperature/humidity, but a press of the " - " button silenced it. Cleaning this incubator should be very easy. Everything comes apart and can be wiped down separately. It's clear that a lot of thought went into its design. Definitely do not use a scouring pad or anything abrassive that could scratch the plastic. This would create optimal habitat for bacteria and mold. Also, it would be good to run this dry for a bit before packing it away for storage (maybe even add some silica packets). There are two bungs on the bottom side of the incubator, near the egg turning motor where you attach the water tube. One of the bungs is capped and must be for eggs that require higher than normal humidity. On that note, this incubator does not automatically control humidity. There is a small port on the top of incubator to adjust how much moisture escapes the system. Other than that, just limit how much you add via the water tube. **I would caution users to place the incubator in it's 21+day home before adding water. I moved mine after adding water, causing water to spill over the internal baffles and into the turning motor. Luckily the unit was unplugged, but it could have shorted the motor or damaged the circuit board had the system been energized. It is easy enough to remove the water tube to drain the tub before moving the incubator. The egg turning features is impressive. It uses a long worm screw to turn gears on the rollers. It is constantly turning, completing a full rotation every 90 minutes. The candling function works well with a bright LED light. Noise level is almost non-existent, although you could probably hear at night when everything is off. Power consumption is the only thing that differs from what the manufacturer states. In my testing, the incubator was drawing just over 60W when warming up, much more than the stated 35W. Upon reaching target temperature, the draw drops to 5.5W. If you are concerned about power consumption, or running solely on battery power, then it would probably be better to leave the bottom tub in the foam insulator. This will keep the internal temperatures more steady and uniform for the developing eggs and be easier on the power bill. Initial testing without the foam insulator showed the incubator having trouble maintaining 100.4'F, dropping into upper 90's shortly after going into maintenance mode (granted the testing location was near an AC vent). I then tested the unit with the insulator, where it reached the target temperature much faster and held in within 0.2'F of the target. Obviously this would be the way to go except that you won't be able to see the eggs during the process. One would argue that not much is happening the first 19 or so days, but it's good to confirm the egg turner is working. Maybe cut a window into the insulating tub to view the eggs? Temperatures were within an acceptable variance from LCD display. Note* The thermometers I used are certainly not the most accurate, however they do provide a reference point to confirm that the incubator does work. One excellent feature that I have not seen before is the ability to attach this to a battery for uninterrupted service during power outages. How terrible would it be to loose a clutch of eggs due to power loss? This incubator states that it will automatically switch between battery and shore during power interruptions, and includes alligator clips for battery terminals. Overall I'm very impressed with this incubator and looks forward to using it soon. One last positive is that there is plenty of room for the chicks to move around after hatching. This allows them time to rest and let their downy feathers dry. ... show more

  • Great budget incubator
I think this is a really incubator for the price. I've tried a lot of different ones (hatching quail eggs) and usually ones in this price range or less just suck. It's not quite as nice as industrial models, but I think this is the best budget incubator I've used. It's easy to set up and program. Having the battery backup option is amazing and could save the little chicks in a power outage from not being able to hatch because the drop in heat could harm them. The foam insulation that comes with isn't the best the way it's packaged and could break pretty easily, but can always be patched up with duct tape if it does and it will still function the same. It's really easy to remove the rollers for the last few days of incubation so the chicks don't get caught in the rollers. This could be used for reptile eggs with the rollers removed by adding some medium because it keeps a stable temp and humidity. I can't think of any improvements for the price range, really great value. ... show more

  • it works... lacks visibility for the eggs though
I didn't realize that there's no way of viewing into the incubator when it's in use, from the image it looks see-through on the sides - however, it needs to stay in the styrofoam packaging if your ambient temperature can fall quite low, which is the case in my house. In addition, it's got a cable that you need to connect and it will stop you from opening and closing the lid easily, as you always need to watch this cable. One amazing feature this has is that it can run on 12 V DC - like a car battery - which could come in handy when there's a power outage. Since I have a solar system with battery for power outages I cannot comment on this (haven't tried it). I have 2 NR360 incubators and 1 Maticoopx, and I love them, as everything is very visible - the whole top is see-through. The NR 360 also requires the eggs to lie down, similar to this one. This incubator turns the eggs by using rollers, it is simple but seems to work well. The maticoopx incubator has the eggs in a rail which means they incubate upright, which is supposed to help with shipped eggs, to keep the air bubbles where they need to be. I measured the temperature with 2 additional thermometers and it is quite accurate compared to the display. Seems to have an even heat distribution within the incubator, or the fan works well enough to shift the air around. I tried quail eggs, chicken eggs and duck eggs and they all work well - the distance between the rollers is adjustable. All in all it's a nice incubator, just not for me - I prefer more visibility on the eggs and would spend a bit more money to get a different incubator. But for the price, this is big and holds a lot of eggs, and seems reliable - a good buy. ... show more
