We purchased one in 2020 for a small bathroom. I had had a space heater in there previously but wanted something safer that took up less space. This heater ran pretty much non-stop during the fall/winter months of 2021 and 2022 (and on chilly summer nights as well). Just recently the toggle on/off switch stopped working. My husband wrote Econo-home to see if they could send us a replacement switch. Customer service person Ella said that if it was in warranty (3 years) she would send us a new one instead. We sent her the invoice and within a few days we had a new heater. Can't beat that for customer service! We like these so much that we purchased two more for the office and bedroom. They are energy efficient, and if you want a thermostat, you can purchase that separately. We just use the on/off toggle switch. They are 250 Watts, so don't throw off a blasting heat, but more gradually warm the space. Do they emit an odor when they are first used? Yes, but over time and depending upon use, this dissipates. If you have sensitivities to smells, you may want to use a different type of heater instead. However, we love these wall-mounted panels - they are great to supplement a small space in a safer manner than using a typical space heater. Heat is gradual, and works best when on for the better part of the day. It's not a replacement for your heating system, but great to take the chill off. We love them! ... show more

We purchased this for my elderly grandmothers bedroom. She was using a small Vortex space heater. We installed this and allowed it to work for a couple of days. We could barely feel any heat coming from this at all. Returned product and went back to space heater.

This is an attractive unit and easy to install if you have a receptacle in the right place. I installed in a small bathroom and it does take 6-8 hours to warm it up though we do keep our house thermostat set low and have two windows in that bathroom. Makes showering much more comfortable.

It does smell. I left it in garage for a few days after unpacking, then plugged in (in garage standing up against metal toolbox. It gets very warm) for a day. Still had an odor. Primed and painted front, back, and mounting hardware so it would blend in better with the wall and the smell is less; fingers crossed. It works very well as a supplemental heater for our corner guest room that is always cooler than the rest of the house (2 1/2 exterior walls). We bought the 250W for a room around 30' X 20'. We turned it on a day prior to use. I am using a Wi-Fi controlled wall outlet and it turns off at 8am and on at 6pm now when in use and disable when not in use. Will work well so long as it holds up over time. ... show more

1/19/2024 Update: Unit still running great after 3 months. Keeps my toes underneath my desk nice and warm while 250 watts pull keeps power usage low. I can also happily report that unless I place my nose next to the unit, it no longer has any smell. Customer service has been very good as well. Updating to 3 stars since the unit has been reliable and customer service has been understanding and helpful. Update: I let the heater run for a few weeks in hope the smell would dissipate, because truly, the design is so nice, and the low 250 wattage is perfect for an RV, running off Lithium batteries. I have left it running for a few weeks now and I can thankfully report, much of the initial toxic smell has gone away. It no long burns my eyes either. Smell is not entirely gone though, but I guess you could say at this point I've gotten used to it. Another thing to note, it has not made my space smell like manure, which is one thing I was worried about. It only seems to stink when powered on. During the day when the unit is off, I do not smell it. If you have the time and space to let this thing off-gas for a few weeks, then I can recommend. But keep it out of tight spaces and close quarters for the first few weeks. A product should not smell this bad, or have to burn off for weeks on end before usable. If they were to change the material this thing is made of, and eliminate the off-gassing and smell, this would be a great product. Original Review: Wow, this thing is rough. Other reviewers were not kidding. This thing reeks like cow manure. But that is not the worst of it. I think it may be off-gassing some harmful chemicals. After initially receiving the unit, I left it out in the garage for 3 days, turned on, in hopes that the smell would burn off. Then installed under my desk to keep my feet warm. Immediately I felt sick, my eyes burned, and I got headaches. ROUND 2- So then I took to painting it with high heat automotive paint in hopes that it would cover up the smell and off gassing of the material. Didn't seem to work. Still smells like manure, burns my eyes, and gives me a headache. UGH!! Such a waste. Gave it two stars because it did keep my feet warm, only uses a small amount of energy and the slim profile is amazing. ... show more
