i have a pk ripper that i put it on and wow, it will zoom! I tow a bike trailer that with a weight of like 110! (pound) and will run great! even though my wheel cant read the battery power, i know when it will die.

Kit was easy to install, performs great. Lots of power. The waterproof cable with connectors looks clean and worked great. Update at 1 year 3 months. I bought another of these, the 20" 1200 Watt version. So now we have 3. Obviously I'm still happy with them or I wouldn't have bought another, but we have enough miles on them to start discovering the weaknesses. First of all, before you even install it the first time, throw away the freewheel supplied and get yourself a Shimano freewheel. (The one supplied started making crunchy noises after only a week.) I had to use a 6 speed freewheel even though my shifter is 8 speed because that's all that would fit in the frame of my bicycle. It still shifts fine even with the mismatch between shifter and freewheel. With the electric boost I don't miss the other speeds. The spoke design also gave problems after a while. Mine started loosening up and breaking spokes after 800 miles, my wife's did the same after 2200 miles. Perhaps that's because the spokes stick out straight instead of the traditional crossing pattern? Anyhow, the guy I contacted at EBikeling was very nice and sent me 10 new spokes for very reasonable $. Unfortunately that was only enough to keep replacing the breaking ones for a few hundred miles. And I got a spoke wrench and started adjusting the spoke tension after every 100 miles or so, but they kept breaking. I know I wasn't over-tightening them because the guy at the bicycle shop showed me how much tension I could apply, and with every tension adjustment I loosened the ones which seemed to have become overly tight. So I got some 10 gauge stainless steel spokes straight from China. About $48 for 36 of them. They take about a month to get so get them before you need them. 78mm seems to be the proper length for the 20" wheel. They are much stronger than the original 12 gauge spokes. Crazy strong in fact. However, the adjustment nipples are a little too big for the holes in the rim, and I have to drill the inside rim hole out to 0.375" to accommodate the bigger nipples. Will update my review in another 1000 miles or so and say how it's going with that. ... show more
