This mute does dampen the sound of the trumpet but it doesn't bring it down enough to let's say practice in an apartment. I had higher expectations but I usually do and this mute didn't meet them. The mute did do what it said it would do just not as soft as I was wanting. I found that two socks did what I needed. I still use this mute a lot but I use the socks when I need my trumpet to be much softer and quieter. It's still a good product. ... show more

I thought buying this mute would actually help. Seems like poor quality and did nothing more than turn a trumpet into a kazoo, lol. I don’t mind the noise from the trumpet just wanted to see if this would help with practicing at home.
