Took this on vacation so I could get some practice in. It cuts the volume to where I doubt anyone in the building can hear, and it plays well. Pitch is not affected and it does take a little more airflow, but it makes practice possible. It stays in the bell, and takes up very little room in your case. If you want to practice, without scaring pets or disturbing neighbors this is for you. I play a few stringed instruments. I wanted to be able to practice a trumpet. I first tried a standard 'trumped mute', bad choice. A cork in the tube messes with the needed air flow badly. This device seems to have the ability to allow for normal air flow, and still greatly reduce the volume. I am a sub novice with the trumpet but I do heartily recommend this. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Impressively quiet and small, warps tone a bit requiring some lipping up in higher registers at times, has a significant amount of back pressure. Wouldn’t want to use it for all practice times but it works when in the apt.

I live with my husband and our 5 cats who REALLY appreciate my sound being cut by this mute. It stays in the bell, fits in my case, and is great for warming up at gigs.
