I just love this mute. I can carry this one in place of carrying three. I use it as a straight mute, a cup mute and as a practice mute. Again, great reviews and price was the breaker for this purchase. My daughter has been practicing her trumpet around the house without a mute for some time. When she practice, none of my other kids can practice their instruments because it was so loud. Finally, I bit the bullet and purchase this mute. Now, the house is quieter and everyone can practice...wow, win-win situation for sure:)! For one, this mute can be used as a cup or straight through...awesome! The best part my wife and I think about this mute is that it has helped my daughter's blowing strength because it forces her to blow harder into the trumpet without realizing it. I've never heard of this brand, and it was sort of a last-minute decision to purchase this along with the straight mute for a one-off gig I had coming up, but I am thoroughly and pleasantly surprised. I was skeptical when I saw the price, but these mutes, in my opinion, actually sound better than anything I've used before. They're certainly cheaper, too. I can tell the material for the cork will wear down pretty quickly, but replacement cork can solve that issue. I don't regret this purchase! ... show more

I bought this thinking it would be quiet enough for me to be able to practice at home around family, but it was still pretty loud and didn't quite muffle the sound. The only reason I didn't rate this lower is because I know some mutes are to be used while playing, so I can only assume that it is designed to be used while playing, but the adjustable cup works good and other than a misunderstanding in use, largely because of other reviews, I'd say it would be a pretty good mute. ... show more
