Great piece

  • For the price, a perfectly good 1.5c knockoff
Color: Silver
I'm not a huge proponent of extra heavy mouthpieces. I've never felt a benefit. But the cost of this mouthpiece was so low, I thought I'd just check it out for the sake of younger players. If you can't shell out $$$ for a Bach 1.5c, then this will do the trick. It plays fine. No issues whatsoever. I'm a professional trumpet player, and while I move from mouthpiece to mouthpiece fairly easily, I would certainly notice any anomalies in the sound. Now...It ain't a Monette. Don't get your hopes up. It's a solid knock off of a Bach size, with all the inherent qualities of a legacy design mouthpiece. There have been some amazing design advances in trumpet mouthpieces, and again, this isn't that. This is a solid, old school Bach knockoff. People have played their entire careers on the mouthpieces this was copied from. So, use this to learn, become a great player, and by that time you'll be able to afford a higher-end more modern mouthpiece. Nothing at all wrong with this one. Five stars. ... show more

  • Sounds great
Color: Silver
Note: I have not tested this over a long time period. This is just my initial thoughts. Also I am not a professional horn player. I am a low time player. This mouthpiece seems to be very well made. Heavy. Sealed air tight on arrival. I tried the mouthpiece out on my Jean Paul TR-430 [Intermediate level] trumpet. My trumpet has been reworked in the US and plays very well. This mouthpiece worked well immediately. I had no problem getting immediate play, with good sounds. It is a warm summer day so I needed no horn warm-up. All in all I like this. I had never heard of Eastrock mouthpieces before and just wanted to give them a try. I got a standard 7C and a 1.5C. Both play well. ... show more

  • Good for an all-around mouthpiece, but not sure it matches dimensions of a "standard" 1.5c?
Color: GOLD
Admittedly, I'm a stronger trombone player than trumpet player, but I am a band teacher and my daughter is an all-state level trumpet player, so we have a fair number of mouthpieces floating around at our house. When my daughter wanted to try a 1.5c for a bit bigger sound, and I saw this, I thought we'd try it. First of all, if you're into the "megatone" style mouthpieces, this certainly matches those well. Very heavy, which some players believe helps to focus the sound more into the instrument rather than into the mouthpiece (I'm not a big believer in the concept--seems like a gimmick to me). Neither my daughter or I noticed a discernable difference in size or feel between this, another 3c from the same brand, and a Bach 7c mouthpiece (standard issue with many beginning trumpets). Granted, the difference between the two is only supposed to be a little less than a millimeter, but she has been able to feel the difference between a Bach 3c and 7c without looking--just by feel. I took out my trusty calipers, and the size seems to be the same (pictured), or at least well within the margin of error, depending exactly where you measure the diameter of the cup. For me, the rim felt slightly more rounded than on my Bach 7c, so I liked it for the comfort factor, but I didn't feel like my sound was any different between the two. ... show more

  • Sounds good!
Color: GOLD
Compared with a 3c, 5c, and 7c, this one has the most Mellow tone. I guess that the unique shape has something to do with that. A worthy addition to my set of mouthpieces. Good value.
