  • Great mouthpiece for jazz lead trumpet
Style: Trumpet
The mouthpiece just feels good on the lips. The sound is awesome and it does help me play notes in the higher register much more cleaner and better sounding. I love playing with this mouthpiece. I had been playing a schilke 14a4a and sometimes a jetone but this one for me is a much better fit.

  • Crazy Shallow
Style: Trumpet
This thing is super shallow. It’s best for high long notes. It feels nice on the face but unless you work with it the lower register and accuracy playing faster may suffer.

  • Great Mouthpiece for lead players
Style: Trumpet
Works great for playing high notes with ease, while playing high it is easy to play loud. However, in the lower register it is harder to play loud. As long as you’re playing a lead part this is a great mouthpiece.

  • Not the Marc. E14 or a schilke 12A4A
Style: Trumpet
I’ve had the old Marc. E14 and used it for 15 years as the companion to my CKB 1E. The Yamaha version seems to have a rounder edge and less back pressure. I used to have a schilke 12a4a and hated it. This certainly feels better than the schilke, but idk if this can replace my Marc. E14. The Jazz version, I absolutely love though probably because it’s overall a larger mouthpiece, but not as large as the CKB 1E. Overall, great mouthpiece, but not for everyone. ... show more

  • Good mouthpiece for experienced lead players.
Style: Trumpet
The mouthpiece is very good for high range playing for achieving loud volume. i recommend it for anybody who has been playing for a long time who is ready to extend their upper range. good for lead trumpets in marching band or jazz band. has good tone in high and lower ranges. not too sharp on the lips and is keeps endurance for long high range playing. ... show more

  • Good mouthpiece for lead players
Style: Trumpet
I am a trumpet geek. I bought this mostly to add to my collection. I also own the Wayne bergeron lead mouthpiece and several monette mouthpieces. I own schilke 6a4a and have played schilke 13a4a for most of my musical life. Finding the right mouthpiece is a personal decision largely through trial and error, but this one is worthy to be considered. It helps with high notes, is comfortable to play and helps with endurance and is easy to play in tune. ... show more

  • Upper range doesn't tire you out
Style: Trumpet
This mouthpiece is a great way to do two things: 1.) Extend your upper range. I was quite surprised. I have been playing trumpet for a long time. Never been able to get above the E flat above the staff. With this mouthpiece, I am able to hit the A natural above that. Does it sound immediately great? No. But I can hit it. More importantly 2.) I can play up high with control for extended periods of time. It keeps me from being fatigued in the upper register. As far as sound quality: way more harsh or shrill than my Bach 3c. Low range, at least for me, forget about it. But as a tool to help with high notes it's a winner. ... show more

  • Just what I needed to push my range up to/past double high A
Style: Trumpet
I had been stuck with a double G# as the highest note I could play for a while, but as soon as I got this mouthpiece, I could play A's without that much effort. This isn't a magical tool to give you an additional octave of range, but it is a really well built lead mouthpiece and if you're switching from a standard mouthpiece it will probably give you a few more notes at the top of your register. The low range is surprisingly good too, but I wouldn't use this for 3rd/4th, or even 2nd trumpet parts unless you do 2nd chair jazz solos and you like to scream in them. ... show more
