I’m not new to the trumpet I played it years ago and was very good. Have been playing the flute professionally for 40+ years. Decided I wanted to get back into the trumpet. I have been playing again for only a little over a month. My upper range was to the c above the staff. When I tried the 3mv my range went to Double E. That being said, I need to practice with my Bach 7c to get up there too. The lower register is also good on the 3mv. The mouthpiece is extreme shallow and has to be gotten used to. For jazz lead and commercial playing this is a terrific mouthpiece. It takes less effort to produce a big sound with sizzling overtones and I found an extra chromatic high note or two become usable for me. Easy to play too loudly with this one. The tone is not as overly brash as are some lead mouthpieces and the tone in the middle and lower registers is still acceptable although not as nice as a standard C or B cup for lower parts. ... show more

The 3MV was too wide for me, so I bought the 5MV to try. It fits me much better. The rim is very comfortable, and the sound is bigger than I expected for such a shallow mouthpiece. I mean, this thing is REALLY shallow, but it's not thin sounding. And I haven't bottomed out on it (yet).

This has replaced my standard Bach 3C on trumpet. It has nice tone, good slotting and is very comfortable. Upper register is still my closet monster, but this has helped get me up there.

I really love this mouthpiece it's wonderful for playing jazz music I like it better than my 6A4a it helps with the endurance of your playing and you don't bottom out when playing for a long time I ordered the 3s to make it easier on the upper range

It's a nice mouthpiece. It plays well. It took a little bit to get used to the rounded rim. It's a good cross between a heavy weight and a standard mouth piece.
