I bought this tiller to loosen up the ground before planting grass seed. The ground had some roots and vines in it and figured for the price if the tiller gets destroyed I didn't care. I was pleasantly surprised how rugged it was. Now and then vines would get wrapped around the tines and slipping clutch noise would occur and the motor stopped but the tiller still worked fine. I had a small gas tiller one time and that would bounce off of things and was hard to control and didn't do near as good of a job. I estimate that I tilled about 1000 sq. ft. without and problem on not so good ground so think it would be excellent for a small to medium garden. ... show more

Bought this for use in my raised beds. Light enough to lift and maneuver, which is important since I'm older. So much faster than using a hoe or garden fork. Doesn't work as well if I have to break ground, but that's not what I bought it for. Wish the tines were bigger so it would go a little deeper but doesn't take away from my overall satisfaction. Unlike larger models, you don't have to walk behind it which is important to me as there's no way I would go climbing into my raised beds to do that. I'm curious to see how long before I start having issues but will cross that bridge when the time comes. For now, very happy with my purchase. ... show more

So far it's pretty good. The assembly was a little more difficult for me (I'm 67 years old), but after figuring it out and getting it put together, it works well for what I need. It's not too heavy for me and I am able to use it for what I need done by myself.

This little guy works pretty good for tilling in between the rows of my garden. The only downfall to it is it doesn’t handle rocks very well.

Lightweight, easy to use. Must have a nice long durable extension cord. Ate through very rocky soil just fine. If roots or vines get tangled it it hard to unwrap since the blades don't rotate in off position. Large rocks will get jammed but if it can get in it can get out.
