    • Surprising longevity; good opacity, formula, & color

I normally use THE $2 e.l.f. Instant Lift Brow Pencil in the shade Deep Brown, so I wasn't sure how the Ultra Precise would compare regarding color or formula, but I wanted to give it a try. The Cool Brown shade in the Ultra Precise works well with my skintone & dark hair, although it is slightly lighter than what I'm used to using. The formula is a bit more "stiff" (not as creamy) compared to the Instant Lift, but it still goes on quite smoothly & does a good job of filling-in the very sparse areas if I use quick, short strokes as is recommended with this kind of product. It also covers the brow hairs that have turned white from aging, as well as fills-in the almost now non-existent tails nicely. I was very happy with the staying power, & the precision that the smaller diameter twist-up pencil provides was welcomed, although it does take a little longer for me to complete my brows due to the aforementioned sparseness. I have been surprised by how long the pencil lasts, but this may be due to the stiffer, more waxy formula. For someone with thicker brows with just a few gaps here & there, this might definitely be a more ideal product for them. I'm glad I tried it, as it is a very nice product & good value, but I will probably go back to my usual Instant Lift only because it is a bit quicker for my particular brow needs. ... show more

    • A Favorite Staple In My Makeup Routine!

My favorite eyebrow product by far! I used the more affordable ELF version of this eyebrow pencil for years ($4 one in neutral brown), but this "precise" version works 10x better for me--it has much more precise application and lasts much longer. The cheaper version would only last a few weeks for me because the pencil would break off constantly, but I have not had that issue with this eyebrow pencil. I prefer to use ELF eyebrow products because they carry their products in the color "neutral brown" which matches my eyebrow hair color perfectly. Overall, a great product for a great price! I Ike this eyebrow pencil because it is true blackish brown color. So many other brands tend to look orangey. This one has a nice density too which allows for finer lines and it keeps the application looking more natural and less crayon-like.

I’ve had this little pencil in my makeup bag for years and I keep coming back to it. I’m a natural blonde with a hint of auburn, and finding a brow shade that’s not too cool or too warm is a struggle—but “Taupe” nails it. It blends in so well and looks super natural. The tip is nice and skinny, so it’s easy to do small, hair-like strokes without going overboard. Plus, there’s a spoolie on the other end, which makes things way easier. No need to carry two tools around—especially if you travel a lot. Also, fun bonus: I’ve used it to draw on cute little fake freckles and it totally works. I’ve used another e.l.f. brow pencil before and thought I was re-ordering it, this one is much thinner. When they say “micro slim,” they mean it. The tip is blunt rather than pointed, so it’s better for tiny, hair-like strokes than for quickly building a soft brow shadow. On me, the Taupe shade runs very light; it takes multiple passes to get consistent color, and creating a full, even fill is slower than with a standard pencil. What’s good Ultra-thin lead for precise, natural strokes and tail definition Built-in spoolie to tame brow flyaways and blend No sharpening needed; retractable format What could be better Blunt micro tip makes all-over shading tedious Taupe is very faint, those with sparse brows may struggle to build density Not the best pick if you want fast, uniform fill Tips If you’re between shades, consider going one shade deeper Use short, feathery strokes and finish with the spoolie Pair with a tinted gel or powder if you need more fullness Bottom line: Excellent for precision detailing; underwhelming for quick, full-brow coverage.
