I’ve been looking for a sleek modern well designed and versatile floor reading light for a long time. As soon as I saw the description, I was sold and it has not disappointed. The way the arm swings and the light itself swivels, and the temperature and brightness controls as well as the switch location are all brilliant (but you can also control them with your phone app if you don’t want to reach up). I also love that it senses movement. It will turn off after (not sure how many) minutes if there is no movement detected. If it does, I’ll simply wiggle or move my hand and it turns back on. ... show more

The Dyson Solarcycle Morph is a very impressive and well built lamp. The product is exceptionally well packed and assembly and setup is quick and easy. The magnetic locking works well and I really appreciate the design of where the magnetic ring on top of the shaft raises to create a flush look when the lamp is locked into place. The luminaire itself is also very impressive. The color selectable lamp has a very wide range. I have had it set as low as 1800k and as high as 6800k with excellent color rendition throughout the spectrum. Color changing and dimming are very smooth and the touch controls are very responsive. One thing to note is that the shaft lighting is done via the light within the head and sent down the shaft when it is in the magnetic holder. It looks very nice but does dim considerably near the base and provides very little ambient light in this mode. I would have liked to see an additional luminaire at the base to help with this issue. The occupancy sensor/photocell works well but given where it is located it can have troubles triggering , especially if you have the lamp functioning as an uplight or spotlight. I'd also like to see more power from the USB-C out. When they used USB-C I was expecting USB PD power output given the price of the lamp. Overall this is an excellent lamp that does many things right but given the very high price I would expect a second luminaire and a higher output on the USB-C connection. 4/5 ... show more

I really wanted to love this lamp. When one thinks of Dyson, they think innovation, at least I do. The fact of the matter, this is a lamp, and not a great one. The magic is in the app, and it's not really that magical. Based on the pictures and description, I thought it was gonna have all these different lighting modes and sources, and be really "smart", in reality, this is probably the dumbest smart device I have. In the app you can change the light temperature, and brightness. So i guess technically, their description is true. It has a single led bulb in the arm that you can move to position, or you can fold it back and you get a soft light that shines from the upright post, definitely a novelty, with no actual practicality. As a task light, it works well, unless you are typing or something with little movement, then it shuts off until you move enough for it's sensor to recognize the motion. Maximum output for brightness is around 800 Lumens or so, which in my opinion is meh. It is a floor lamp, kind of... My first complaint is that it is this weird funky height. It will work fine if you want to put it on the floor behind an easy chair and swing the head above you to read, but that about it. I had to stack a couple of boxes, and put it on those boxes to get enough height to reach over my monitors on my desk to actually provide light where I need it. In the app, it asks you some questions in order to optimize lighting conditions based on your geographical location, age, gender, etc. I don't know if that makes a difference, I tend to keep it on manual for the light that I need. In auto, it trends a little too dark. All in all, I have other smart lights, switches, etc. that meet my needs better than this lamp, for a literal fraction of the cost. In my opinion, this is a glorified task light and results can easily be matched with a $50 desk lamp. I don't think I would recommend this light, definitely not worth the money! ... show more

There is definitely a lot to say about this lamp, but I like a lot about it. To start off with, I love the minimalist, sleek and modern design. It might not suit everyone, but I like the look of the polished metal and the lamps subtle presence. It has quite a heavy base, so it cannot tip over easily. Ideally you would set this next to a couch or chair, since the lamp can be switched to a reading light. Personally, I mostly use it in its stationary mode and use the Dyson app to set it for motion. The lamp is not super bright, but is really meant to add ambiance and environment rather than illuminate an entire room. Whether you think that might be worth it is up to you, but I have found that a really good lamp set to a good hue makes it easier to focus or relax in the evening and at night. The hue range is good - from a paper white to a deep amber. I use the Dyson app to set it to the sun/moon cycle where the light hue will change from day to night. There are a few customizations in the app, but I am surprised by the lack of features. I would really expect some sort of smart home integration at this price point, but Dyson seems intent on staying within their own platform for now. I would like to see some options for scheduling or routines, but maybe that can be made available in the future. Overall, I love the lamp, the design and the lighting. I have owned a variety of different lamps and there really is a difference with high end lighting. Whether its worth it or not may depend on your personal preferences, but I believe with the possibility of future upgrades and the performance so far, I am very happy. ... show more
