Description

IRWIN Marples Wood Drilling Forstner bits are constructed of tough carbon steel to stay sharp and produce precise pocket holes and flat-bottomed (blind) holes. The ultra-sharp cutting edges feature optimized angles to cut more quickly and accurately through hard and soft woods than traditional forstner bits. With a reduced shank, these bits fit 3/8" and larger drills and drill presses, these wood drill bits are ideal for fine woodworking, cabinet-making and more. Set includes 1/4" (6.3mm), 3/8" (9.5mm), 1/2" (12.7mm), 5/8" (15.8mm), 3/4" (19.0mm), 7/8" (22.2mm), 1" (25.4mm), 1-3/8" (34.9mm) forstner bits.

I was looking for a set of forstner bits to cut holes for scroll saw projects. I have used Irwin tools many times in the past and have been satisfied with their quality, so I decided to give the Irwin forstner bits a try after reading the reviews. The case is very well designed. The bits are very sharp and durable. The type of wood I have used the bits on so far has been primarily poplar wood which is a softer hardwood, so I can not attest to how the bits will work with the harder woods, but for what I need them for, they have performed as well if not better than expected. The case that the bits are enclosed in is very secure. Unlike some cases I have had, the bits do not drop out when opened if upside down, they are secure and have to be intentionally removed. It was a very good price and I am very pleased with this forstner bit set. I would highly recommend this bit set. ... show more

These are very nice but they do not fit in a standard diameter router as far as I could tell, so I had to use a drill.

    • Sharp Clean Cuts
The Irwin Marples Forster wood bits are sharp and when used properly will make clean cuts. I used them to drill through soft wood project. No drama, just clean cuts using a cordless drill. Recommend.

Awesome drill bits. I use them all the time. I build a lot of things from scratch using different types of wood and these drill bits work really great. I use them in my drill press all the time. The holes are perfect and true to size. I would recommend them to anyone who does woodworking
