I have an 2001 Trailstar trailer that this was installed on. The original was still very functional but rust was starting to take it toll and the crank handle was loose and I couldn't tighten it any further. It held up well for 25 years being stored outdoors full time.

So you're going to load and unload your [you pick the amount] $20,000 boat with a cheap Chinese winch? Not me. We were replacing a cheap import with a broken pawl (extremely important part that FAILED on the old winch). Given the value of what we were loading, and unloading, AND the relatively small price in comparison to the boat, I wanted the best money could buy (I can't always do this, but we're talking about a < $100 purchase here). I was COMPLETELY SOLD by two things: (1) the availability of replacement parts should I ever need them; and (2) my money would be used to employ AMERICAN craftsman. The winch arrived promptly, I'm very happy with the fit, finish, and quality (bear in mind that this is a tool, not fine silver), and I'm convinced that this winch will outlast the trailer, and me.
