  • Impressive product, from the start!!
Color: Silk Copper
Look at the attached photos, to start out. The Duramic PLA+ filament arrived in a sturdy, quality box. The spool was well vacuum-sealed in a REUSABLE bag, with a desiccant pack inside. The desiccant pack seems very standard among 3D filament vendors. The resealable bag is much less common, yet very useful in keeping the filament away from moisture in the air. Before opening the package, you can see that the filament is wound tightly, and evenly. For those that don’t know: loose, sloppily wound filament can a tangle. Other vendors’ poor filament roll might not only ruin a print, by snagging and stopping the filament from advancing, but also has the potential to damage your printer. This Duramic filament has little likelihood of encountering those problems. The filament remaining scale (on the face of the roll) is a first encounter for me. This small feature helps the maker solve a common problem when printing larger pieces: do I have enough filament left on this roll to print with? Unless you’re good with geometric formulas, that can prove to be a difficult question to accurately answer. The small scale means that you can compare your estimated filament needed (as calculated by your slicing program or Octoprint), and see if you’ll run out before the print finishes. Genius feature! Now for everyone’s favorite part: print quality. It took ZERO adjustments from my standard PLA+ settings to get excellent results, from the very first print. Bed adhesion was perfect, no loose filament lines extruded. I experienced zero stringing, no clogging, and an overall excellent, shiny finish on the final printed product. This was my first roll of Duramic filament. I’m looking forward to seeing the other 3D printer filament offerings they have available. ... show more

  • Wound to tight
Color: Silk Neon Green
This is the first print I did, and that is when I noticed the under extrusion. I know my printer is running fine. so I looked at the spool, and the top 10 or so layer were wound up extremely tight. I unwound it, and rewound it by hand. no issues so far. over all I would have give it a 5 star, because I had to unwind and re wind it it gets 4. Color is great. ... show more

  • Beautiful, but a little lacking
Color: Silk Green
I really don't have too many complaints about this filament, but the one I have takes it down a notch for me. Let me start with the positives. The color is positively beautiful. It is vibrantly green with a sultry, silky, metallic quality. Everything I've printed has looked amazing. Secondly, the strength and rigidity are good. N real complaints there. My primary complaint is with the bed adhesion. I tried treating this like any other PLA I have; cleaning the (glass) bed with denatured alcohol prior to printing, setting the bed temp to 65C, and making sure to print a brim on anything with a puny first layer. Well, it doesn't work with this filament, at least not consistently. I find that I need to lean towards 70C for the bed temp, and I can't use a lower temp for the layers after the first or it'll pop right off the board. All in all, it's pretty good stuff. Do your due diligence before attempting a big print. ... show more

  • Loved their OG gold, not this royal gold.
Color: Silk Royal Gold
The original silk gold pla is warm and orangey, with just the right amount of shine. This royal gold is too shiny, looks more yellow and green as well, does not at all look like the product photo. I like Duramic filaments so I hope they bring back the original. I'm switching to other brands now.

  • Very smooth printing - excellent appearance!
So I thought I would try this filament out to see if PLA+ would be an improvement over my regular PLA prints for strength. Though I have not had a chance to test it's strength, I will state that the print quality is incredible. Here are my settings on my Ender 3 3D printer, but as always, different printers may require slightly different settings to get prints like this... Extruder Temp - 220 C Print Bed Temp - 60 C Print Speed - 60 mm/s Layer Height - .2 Nozzle Diameter - .4 Print Bed Material - PEI on glass Once the temperature of the print bed cooled to room temperature, the print just "popped" off like it should and actually a little easier than my other PLA filaments do (3D Solutech and Eryone). I am curious to see if the other colors from Duramic will print as smooth because sometime different colors of the same brand will have slightly different printing characteristics. I will be definitely trying out the other PLA+ Duramic filaments :) ... show more

  • Not the right color.
Color: Silk Blue
Duramic makes a fine PLA filament and the spools I've used up have been consistent and good. However this one is marked as Pantone 305 C and it isn't. 305C is a light teal as you can see from the above catalog page. What I received was a washed out light blue. Nowhere's near as exciting a color. Good filament, wrong color. ... show more

  • Not that shiny but a good printing filament
I can't say this is very shiny. In my picture you can see Duramic Shiny Silk Metallic Gold PLA on the right. It isn't really shiny at all and the color reminds me of yams. It does print nicely but it doesn't have that gleam that the other dragon does which was printed in SUNLU Shiny Silk Lite Gold. Both are straight off the print bed, no post-processing was done. The Duramic is an acceptable material and I had no trouble printing but I don't think you are going to get a very shiny, metallic surface from this material. There are a number of other so-called silk shiny metallic golds out there that I will have to try as the SUNLU is not available at the moment, but if you can wait for it I'd still recommend the SUNLU if you want a good, shiny gold sheen. ... show more
