    • Great for spot-correcting hot rooms without a full window install
Having a mostly south-facing house, a couple rooms tend to overheat: the guest bedroom, and my home office. The HVAC system wasn't built to target specific rooms and is rather inefficient, so I'd been looking for a way to deliver targeted air conditioning to these rooms on an as-needed basis without requiring a full window install. So far, this item fits the bill. I've had it running in my office now for a while. The south-facing windows get MAJOR sun here in Florida for multiple hours a day, and I've got a lot of computers in here, so even if the rest of the house is 70° this room can reach 80° or higher. Even in the winter, if the heat is on to keep the rest of the house livable, it can get REALLY warm in here. Well, time for a portable AC! Setup and install was easy. Used the foam inserts to secure the seals on the now permanently-open window. It's at the front of the house but the window space required is a flat frame and is not obvious from the outside, though I will have to figure out a new security option since the secure window lock is no longer usable. Settings on the device are sane and nothing crazy. There's a wifi option but I haven't used it. Cooling is loud, but honestly, not too bad and worth it while it's on. Once it's at temp the actual cooling only happens sporadically (VERY small room when the doors are closed) and it's very quick to cool, so not concerned about loud sounds. For example, I've got it on now at night, and my white noise fan is louder than the AC (not cooling) fan. If I end up keeping it in here permanently I'd be able to give up the white noise fan in favor of the AC in fan-mode (or cooling mode, in the cases where I need to close the office doors overnight (which is never??)). As for other miscellany: unpacking was easy, just cut the straps and lift the box out. Hypothetically the box could be used for storage but the unit has wheels so it'll probably just get wheeled around into closets when necessary. Overall quite pleased with both the ease of installation and the immediate cooling provided post install. Great stuff! ... show more

    • Hard working unit
I live in a part of California that frequently sees triple digit temperatures throughout the summer months. I ordered this AC unit to fill in for a window unit that died halfway through a heat wave. It's installed in a 250sqft detached building in our backyard that we use as a home office. The building has no insulation and essentially a shingled plywood roof with nothing but that thin duo between us and the blazing sun. The old window unit could get us to about 90 degrees inside when it was 110 outside and that seemed like a fair enough performance level until it up and died. This unit was easy to install in a window although I didn't like the adhesive foam strips that it uses. I think those may be a nightmare to remove the residue of when we decide to remove the window panel for the cooler months. Once you've got the hose connected correctly to your window panel, that's basically all you have to do other than turn it on. It works really well. On a day when the outside temperature was 109, the interior temperature was down to 82 so it easily out performed our prior unit. It's also been easier on the power bill than the prior unit was, too. I'm very happy with it and even if the adhesive does prove to be a pain to remove, I'll forgive it if it keeps us less sweaty overall. ... show more

    • Easy set up and works well enough
You can't overexpect with these small units- but it does what I need it to. The installation is easy. I never really bothered with the app, wi-fi, etc. Just not interested in those features- though I'm sure many find them convenient. I found this easy to set up. I do wish it cooled a little better, but the space I use it in is a bit larger than this unit is likely intended for. Doesn't often reach the set temperature, but still cools effectively.     • Keep us cool
This unit is the perfect size for a small space. The footprint does not take up too much room and works beautifully at keeping an even temperature. We did add a vent outside to get rid of any drainage. Absolutely love this unit. It was even simple to set up.
