This Drive medical Cobra GT4 scooter has faulty electronics! After approximately 10 hours of use, will go in reverse but not forward! I am not able to find a authorized Drive Medical Repair Facility to repair this mobility scooter near zip code 94553. I am very disappointed and sad. Payed $ 4,500.00 to this piece of junk! Feel ripped off by Drive Medical Company!!!! Quality Control non-existent!!

Its huge but it gets you over terrain that you otherwise woud not be able to get to and very fast. I now know why there is a seat belt on this. when turning at high speed you can feel it but the chair is extremly comfortable. I went from cement to grass and back at full speed with no problem, the shocks really work well. my onlly problem is I wish they would make a manual hitch for it, it is too big for anything I have seen yet. looks like you need a trailer or truck. It will fit in the minivan, but you can't take much else. It works just as they advertise it!!

This was the biggest waste of money and the manufacturer warranty along with VidaCura’s 5 year extension was a joke. I ordered the 20” seat model and had nothing but problems from the beginning. Twice I had to have the transaxle replaced within less than a year. Fortunately after being able to put in on consignment at a local scooter dealer I ordered the Vita Monster S12X by EV Rider. Hands down, I should have gotten that from the beginning since it’s only about $1000.00 price difference. Think twice before ordering the Cobra GT4.

I bought this scooter in January 2016. I purchased it through SpinLife.com and not Amazon, but that doesn’t make any difference for the purpose of this review. There are a couple issues that buyers that want to assemble the scooter themselves should be aware of. If you purchase the “White Glove Delivery”, you can ignore my rant. Overall, the scooter is well-built, well designed, and comfortable to drive. Assembly Buyers have 3 options for delivery. If you get the free delivery, the truck pulls up to your house and drops it off on the street. This is fine if you have enough help (and a large wheeled cart) to get it up to your house and into your garage. For $60 the driver will wheel it into your home (or more likely your garage), but won’t climb stairs, and won’t assemble it. For another $40 ($100 total) the driver will deliver it, wheel it into your home, assemble it, and remove all the packaging materials. I bought the $60 option. The manual is available on-line, and is accurate as far as assembly goes. The hardest part is lifting the 55 lb. seat out of the carton and positioning it on the scooter. I did this myself, but a helper would make it a lot easier. The rest of the assembly involves taking off a light battery cover and plugging in the battery cables. This takes less than 10 minutes. The battery cover attaches with Velcro, which seems solid enough. The owner’s manual has a few errors, like not telling owners how to operate the forward and reverse throttle controls, and an error pointing out the location of the “Freewheel Lever”. There is an “Assembly” section that is accurate, but it doesn’t mention the biggest problem. The box that this scooter comes in is 6’ long, 32” wide, and 36” tall, and it weighs about 350 lbs. Getting the scooter out of the box is a BIG problem they don’t mention in the manual, or on the phone (before purchase). After cutting the plastic cables that surround the box, the top lifts off and the scooter sits in a box about 4” tall. This inverted “boxtop” also sits on top of a 4” delivery pallet. Instructions on the top of the box say that to drive the scooter out of the box, you just have to cut the forward end of the boxtop open and drive it out (it comes with enough of a charge on the batteries to do this). I tried that numerous times over several days but couldn’t get the scooter to move. I called the SpinLife staff to explain the problem and they were friendly and helpful, but couldn’t understand what was causing the problem, and their suggestions failed to remedy it. I charged the batteries overnight, and confirmed with the SpinLife staff that the electrical system was working properly. After dragging in some local talent passing by, I finally discovered the real problem. The factory packaging includes two “walls” of cardboard (made up of many laminated layers of regular cardboard) several inches wide that runs the length of the scooter, and roughly astride the centerline (see photo). This (might) prevent damage during shipping, but it also raises the rear drive wheels off the cardboard boxtop just enough that they don’t get traction. The effect is like trying to drive a car that’s on cement blocks. One (or both) wheels may spin, but the scooter doesn’t move. The only solution is to lift the scooter off the boxtop. With the seat and batteries, this scooter weighs 340 lbs. Lifting it isn’t an option. I called the guy at SpinLife again and he arranged to have a local repair company come out and get the scooter out of the box (no extra charge). They lifted the scooter over these walls and out of the box. This was a great frustration. If you’re seriously considering this scooter, call them and talk about how to deal with this problem. Return Policy. Shipping to your house is free, but read the return policy carefully. It makes it very expensive, and virtually impossible to meet the requirements for a refund. It has to be “like new”, meaning no sign of dirt on the tires. You have to return the scooter in its original box and shipping materials (which you won’t have if you pay for the White Glove Delivery), and you have to pay shipping to somewhere (they don’t specify where, but it’ll cost at least a couple hundred dollars). It would be helpful if they had showrooms where you could see and test drive the scooter. I tried to find one, but had no luck. Given the quality of the scooter, the low likelihood of the need to return it, and the pros and cons of the various delivery options, unless you have access to some significant muscle power, I recommend paying the $100 to buy the White Glove option. Operation • Speed The top speed of this thing is rated at 10mph. I would estimate that the suspension system is only rated for about 5mph. They brag about the “full suspension”, but the reality is the suspension is negligible. You feel even slight bumps. As a result, you may be able to travel at 10, but you won’t want to for very long. Steering it is easy, but it gets pretty bouncy. • Noise. It’s pretty quiet. Shouldn’t be a problem for anybody. • Seat Comfort. The seat is comfortable, but it doesn’t take long before you wish it was a bit softer. If you’re taking a long ride you’ll see what I mean. • Turning Radius. I screwed up when I read about the 83” turning radius (the radius is the distance from the center of the circle to the outside edge). In my normal semi-fog, I thought they were referring to the turning diameter (the full width of the circle). To do a 360 degree turn, you need 14 feet of space. That’s a lot. My bad. My fault. And as it turns out, this is my biggest problem. If you’re using it outside, this probably won’t be too much of a problem (I use it in a 1-mile tunnel system in a corporate campus). If turning radius is a concern, you might consider the Odyssey GT, which has a turning radius if 48”. • Back up beeper. You won’t find this feature mentioned anywhere. When you back up there’s a noisy, irritating beeper that goes off. IMHO, the low travel speeds don’t justify the warning. It sounds like you’re backing up a dump truck. This is undoubtedly a side effect of our litigious nature. • Steering Control. Very good. The Tiller Assembly provides good control and positioning. No complaints. The only problem I have is the frequent need to back up to make turns because of the large turn radius mentioned above. • Ground Clearance. They advertise it a 7” but that’s not accurate. The height of your feet as you drive is about 7”, but the front grill of the scooter is only about 4” above the ground, and the frame components underneath are only about 5½”. • Size and Weight. If you need to move this thing from place to place, you should plan to have a large enough vehicle to handle it. • Email. You have to give them a valid email address when you order, and they sell it to anyone with a pulse. I’ve gotten literally hundreds more spam emails since I gave them my email address. You also get weekly notices from Spin-Life telling you about about great deals on their scooters (like you buy one every couple weeks. All said and done, I would recommend this product, but the business practices of the seller could be a problem. Buyers beware.
