I was a little worried ordering this because it looked top heavy and unstable to me in the photos. When it arrived, I was ready to give it 5stars just from reading the safety section of the manual. It's more stable than you realize, but if it does tip over it disables everything, beeps a warning, and flashes "P4" on the screen. It does not reset until you return it upright (appears to use accelerometers and not switches like older space heaters did). I even tested to see if you had it on its back and then plugged it in and turned it on (like a dog sniffing around). I did get it to turn on the display but before even the fan could start spinning up it realized it was on its back and shut off like it's designed to. The highest fan speed I measured from it during normal use was about 5mph, which for a heater is plenty high. Using a laser thermometer I was able to detect the heating elements inside getting up to 270degrees, but the outside remaining cool - the grate will still get hot after long usage so still avoid touching. I measured the watts being pulled under the different heat settings and they matched what the manual said they should. I measured 45db of sound in front of the heater and 55db behind (less than 1in away) on the highest setting, so it's quiet and not going to be too noisy (even quieter at the lower settings). There is a fan option, but it's the same low speed as when the heat is on. The always on heat mode has 3 levels, but the more useful eco mode cycles on and off based on a set temperature. It doesn't just cycle off the heat, if you go far enough above the set temp, it powers off the heat and the fan and looks like it waits for temps to go back down. It's a good space heater.

Do you work in a meat locker? Yeah, neither do I but the way they keep my office freezing all year long, I always expect to turn around and see a side of beef behind me. BUT NOT ANYMORE!! This little heater is perfect for under my desk. It's quiet and has a timer that I set to make sure even if I forget to turn it off at the end of the day, it will turn itself off. The best thing about it though is...THE REMOTE CONTROL! You see, I've had other portable heaters under my desk but every morning, I'd have to crawl under the desk to turn it on and then crawl back down there at the end of the day to turn it off. Not very fun when you're wearing a skirt. Now, I just roll my chair back a pit, aim the remote in the direction of the heater and it turns on, then I set the timer to turn it off and I forget about it. Occasionally, I change the temperature if I start to get warm but I can do that with the remote as well. I have another employee who sometimes sits at my desk when I'm away and she uses the fan mode and says it's great! I feel like the price is right on this little heater too! Like I said, I've had other portable heaters and when I purchased them 10-15 years ago, they were the same price as this much better, modern heater that has a remote control, adjustable tilt head (my other heaters were not adjustable so you had to put them on a box to get heat to your legs and I'd accidently kick it off the box at least 3 times a week, so frustrating). So if you are looking for an under the desk, or on the desk/table top unit, whether you need a heater or a fan, this little unit has got you covered and I recommend it!

I'll admit I haven't had much opportunity to use this heater yet as it is the middle of the summer, but San Francisco does have some chilly nights, so I was able to test it out and once again DREO doesn't disappoint. I have three DREO fans which I simply love, but this is my first DREO heater. I really like the compact size of this. Small enough to place on a nightstand, but with up to 1500 watts of power, it heats up super fast and works just as well as my larger Vornado space heater. I tested it in my 225 square foot bedroom and it upped the temperature by 5 degrees within 1/2 hour. It's definitely ideal for a smaller space. If you have cathedral ceilings or a large room, you may need two or use it along with a separate fan to really circulate the heat, but for a single, average size room, it's more than adequate to maintain a constant temperature. The digital display, temperature indicator and included remote all are high end features which my larger space heater lacks and the fact you can tilt it upwards is a nice bonus. It can run at 1500 or 1000 watts, the fan can also be adjusted and the housing is cool to the touch, so pet and child friendly (although the grate still gets hot...).. The safety plug and tip over protection add peace of mind that I can run it while I'm sleeping and not worry about it. If you're looking for a compact heater that can be used on a desk or nightstand, for the price...this one can't be beat.
