  • So far I'm liking this heater So far I'm liking this heater
Color: Space Grey Size: Large
Last update: I've already pulled this heater out to start using again after putting it away during summer and it's still working great. I used this heater everyday through the winter last year and plan to do the same this year. It puts out good heat and overall it's been a great heater. Glad I purchased this brand and hope to get a few more winters from this heater. Update: I've been using this heater pretty much everyday for over a month now and I'm very happy with it. I was hoping it would help save some on the power bill even if it was only $5 or $10 since its advertised energy efficient and has eco mode but, I'll be honest, I didn't really see any difference in my bill using this one versus my old heaters I use to use or even the others I tried but it does do very well with heating what I need it to and it heats up faster than some others I've had. I really like this heater so I hope it lasts awhile I just got this and have used for about a day and a half so will update again after some use. First the shipping was quick which was great because I needed asap. I really like the look of this heater and it heats up quickly. I seen some reviews talking about an odor and the booklet says to run on high for a couple hours to dispelle any odors but mine doesn't have a smell to it thankfully, no odors at all. It took a min to figure everything out as far as settings and such but it's pretty simple once you do. My first 2 heaters like this one I had for 10 yrs one went out then a month later the other since then I've bought 4 different brands and the longest I got before they just stopped working was 6 months so I don't think they are made as well as they use to be but I have heard nothing but good things with this brand and figure it was my next choice and I have high hopes for this one and I hope I get a few years out of it. If not, as much as I love this type of heat this will be my last purchase. So far though I'm really liking this one, it heats really well and I like all the safety features it has. I would recommend it at this time. I will update again after I get some use out of it and I hope the next update will be nothing but good things on this heater. ... show more

  • Pleasantly surprised by this Dreo heater. Pleasantly surprised by this Dreo heater.
Color: Space Grey Size: Large
I bought this heater to use in basement hobby room after the thermostat broke on my 23 year old Honey well heater. My hobby room is close to 350 sq. ft. so I needed something that would be capable of heating this large of an area in a room that even in the dead heat of Summer rarely gets past 65°. I've had radiator style heaters in the past and although they are slow to get up to temp, they did a good job heating larger areas. In my search for a new space heater, I admittedly was looking for another Honeywell when this heater popped up and seemed to have a very high satisfaction amongst the reviews. I never heard of Dreo , so I did a bit of research and find out it's a relatively new company with kitchen and small home appliances to their name. They seem to have high satisfaction amongst most of the product line and so I click to buy this heater. The heater arrives and assembly is nothing more than attaching the caster wheels to the unit. Simple enough. Read through the manual and get it plugged in and ready to go. I just left it in ECO mode, set the temp to 72° to see how it would respond. Like many of the low-rated reviews have stated, it emits a strange smell and the units occasionally "pops". The strange smell was non-existent after a few days and the pop noise is just an inherent trait of a radiator heater when it is first started cold. They all do that, every one of them. Once it's heated up after about 10 minutes it stops popping. My hobby room was about 58° when the heater was first started and in about an hour it was up the the set temp of 72°. If you're looking for instant heat output, this isn't the heater for you. Radiator heaters take much longer to heat the area but are superior when it comes to heating larger, drafty areas. It maintained the set temp fairly well. Sometimes the room temp would get a few degrees higher or lower, but for a space heater, the thermostat and ECO mode did fairly well. One thing to note, if you are not familiar with radiator heaters, the surface temperature can get insanely hot! (see photo) Please keep this in mind with placement of this unit or if you have small children or pets. This heater has a lot of built-in safety features, but common sense and caution must be used with this heater. ... show more

  • Safe, Reliable Heater
Color: Black Size: Large
This heater is awesome! I live in an older home, 110 years old, sectioned into 3 apartments. My apartment had a gas furnace and that worries me. Why I bought this heater. Best decision ever! First it arrived on time within 2 days and was delivered professionally too. Also this heater comes from a reputable company with excellent customer service. If anything goes wrong with this heater they correct the situation asap and offer a reasonable shipping solution. Some other good things about this heater. It has loads of safety features. It has a setting to control watt usages. You can set it at 600, 900, or 1500 watts. So you won't overload your breaker or outlets and risk a fire. Also it has anti-tip over protection. If it tips over or gets too close to anything it shuts off immediately. It is fully digital so no errors with the settings. My apartment is 500 square feet and it keeps the while apartment toasty warm. No joke. It has an anti-fire setting. So I can leave this on 24/7 and not worry about it catching forever. Huge as I work a lot with my pets at home. And no funky smells either. This is seriously an amazing heater and a solid investment. Worth every penny. I totally recommend it. ... show more

  • Nice heater, but know where to use it.
Color: Space Grey Size: Large
I bought this heater in preparation for renting an older house without central heating and air. I'd read that oil filled heaters were better at maintaining heat over time and could help with energy costs, so this is what I opted for. Overall, I like it. Controls are great, I appreciate the safety features, and it's easy to just roll around the house. However, I find it performs best when it's in a more enclosed space instead of out in the open due to it providing radiant heat. It works well in the hallway/area that connects my bedroom, computer room, and bathroom. It heats up that smaller space easily and the heat will eventually radiate into those rooms enough to be comfortable. In the living area/kitchen? Not so much. That area is much more open with less walls to maintain the heat that radiates from the fins. A more open space like that would benefit more from forced air, I believe. So, this radiator is still worth it, just be more aware of where you're using it (more than I was initially, lol). ... show more

  • The best oil filled radiator heater I ever purchased
Color: Space Grey Size: Large
I bought this as a used item from Amazon and it was listed as "acceptable" and the description said there were scratches. When it arrived it was brand new! What a joy! It works well and I bought it because of the safety measures, especially how it won't overheat the plug.

  • ECO Mode is USELESS - I'll explain why there is NOTHING 'ECO' about it ECO Mode is USELESS - I'll explain why there is NOTHING 'ECO' about it
Color: Space Grey Size: Large
First of all I LOVE oil heaters and I'm disappointed because I really wanted to like this one. The BIGGEST issue with it is the 'ECO' (Thermostat) mode is OPPOSITE of what 'ECO' is supposed to be. It wastes energy needlessly and completely ignores your thermostat setting. I like to keep my bedroom 1-2F warmer at night instead of turning up the central heat. My old thermostat oil heater will simply 'warm up' for 10 minutes and then cycle on/off in 'low power' mode since it's already at room temperature. THAT is how a thermostat 'ECO' (Thermostat) mode is supposed to work. This DREO will run at FULL POWER for 40 Minutes REGARDLESS if you set it near room temperature. In my picture you can see I even lowered it to 55F! (Room temp was 70F) and it was still running at full power for over 30 minutes. Then what's the point of the thermostat!? It's just wasting power and heat. You would think it's a defect but no, hidden in the description that's how it was programmed. This is from the manufacturer: " For the first 40 minutes, regardless of the temperature set on the ECO mode, the thermostat does not intervene and remains on high. This is designed to ensure that the oil heater quickly raises the room temperature when it is low, providing rapid warmth to your room. " So they basically programmed it to 'bypass' the thermostat for 40 Minutes in Thermostat 'ECO' Mode. That makes NO sense. Oil heaters only need around 10 minutes max to warm up, then the thermostat should take over and adjust power if needed to reach the desired temperature. Also in my picture you can see that it's not even a true 1500W heater, it only draws ~1435W. My old oil heater draws 1540W. It still gets hot but it's misleading specs. There was also a faint high pitched whine coming from the LCD screen (not the heating element) because it would go away if I turned the display off with the remote. And speaking of the display, it doesn't even show you what power level (LOW 600W, MED 900W, HI 1500W) mode the heater is running in while in thermostat mode. But of course I found it it's running on HIGH for 40 minutes. My old heater with a small display shows you and even lets you 'limit' the power to LOW or MEDIUM in thermostat mode if you want. It's a shame because it's a really attractive looking heater, but the entire reason you pay a premium for an oil heater with a digital display is for the Thermostat function, which doesn't work like it's supposed to. This is basically only good as an oil heater with manual controls, so might as well get one of those for half the price. ... show more

  • Keeps my room nice and toasty Keeps my room nice and toasty
Color: Space Grey Size: Large
My central heat is down waiting on a part, and of course the weather got cold. I was using a infrared convection heater I already to warm my bedroom but had some safety concerns with it. I remember my grandparents using a oil filled heater like this back in the 90s for heating an small added room in there house and it did pretty good. I went online and found them pretty reasonable as far as cost and many we’re similar to what they had but then I saw this Dreo brand with remote, timer and digital display and decided to try it. I’m glad it did. The next day I ordered a second one. It kept me toasty all night and I was able to sleep better knowing it wasn’t goin to catch fire as the elements is inside and it radiates a gentle heat. I liked the design of this Dreo not only for the digital features and remote but it also has a nice modern design with rounded fins and a bit more surface area. It displays the current temp then goes off so it won’t keep you up with the light and I can set a start timer each day and a time off to save energy. I kept it on eco mode and it does a nice job of warming my bedroom. I ordered a second one for my den. Even when my central heat is fixed it will come in handy to take the chill off in my room so I can keep my central set lower. If you don’t need the remote or digital control a dial one will work just fine. If you plan to move it from room to room without allowing it to cool down you may want to choose one with a better handle. You can move it warm but the handle does get somewhat warm and the ends get hot too. But unlike a exposed element heater it’s much more economical and safer as the oil inside keeps warmth while it cycles the thermostat. Plus is quiet. My other heater buzzed and could get knocked over easy. This unit does have a tip over shut off but as long as you keep it in a area to itself your good it’s very stable. I’ve seen these units from $65 to $150. Mine was $99. You can even find them with attachments for warming/ drying towels and clothes. I feel safe with the Dreo and that’s why I ordered a second unit ... show more

  • Awesome
Color: Space Grey Size: Large
This thing is awesome. My toddler’s bedroom is hard to keep a constant temperature. It’s a fairly large room with 40 year old windows. We tried a different fan style space heater that had an auto temp on/off setting, but it kept waking her up in the middle of the night when it would turn on. Any parent knows you do not want infants or toddlers waking up unnecessarily. I upgraded to this radiator heater and, not only is it silent, but the room temperature stays with 1° all night long unless the house furnace is set too high. Because of that, I can set the furnace slightly lower than normal because I know the bedroom will stay constant and warm. I love the ability to set the temp I want and leave it. I’ve had other oil filled radiators that only have a hot to cold dial, and it’s a pain trying to guess the temperature. The quality of the unit is also very nice. The screen/ display is surprisingly nice. The only downside is when you first turn it on, it sets itself to high for an hour, so that can spike the temperature. I don’t understand why that can’t be turned off, but I have to make sure to turn the heater on before bedtime so it doesn’t shoot the room temp up too high. Either than or I just turn the temp all the way down during the day to prevent it from triggering the full blast mode from having to turn it on. Overall, solid unit and I’m happy I bought it. ... show more
