First off - this is not an AC, it is an evaporative cooler. Evaps work by blowing air over a wet filter, which cools the air. Evaps work great in dry climates. If it is humid, they tend not to get as great of results. I live in a very dry climate, and have had central Evaps that work great, and this one is great too - for a single room. I use it in my west facing bedroom which gets hotter than the rest of the house. I also take it with me when we go to places that don’t have A/C. I like it so much, I bought one for my kids. Things I like about this product: - It is quite large and has a wide oscillator which fans the whole room - The fan is very quiet compared to other tower fans I have had - The controls are quiet - I had another brand that beeped very loudly with every button pushed - The display is muted and goes dark when on, so it doesn’t glow - the other brand had a very bright display - There are 4 fan speeds Things I wish were better, but have no problems living with because I love it - The timer only goes to 7 hours - The container for the water is hard to clean (true of all of these designs) - The buttons are practically invisible unless the lights are on in the room, but I have memorized the remote In summary, if you are in the proper climate and need one room cooled - this is awesome and I highly recommend it! ... show more

Bought after apartment AC went out and during heat dome. Now just using during sleeping without water as AC is working and cooling off at night. As a former user of a box fan this is way better. It may be me but with water and ice packs my room did not cool much. I wonder about quality of ice packs as they really expand in freezer. Too make clear, I turn off AC at night while I sleep and just run fan on level 2. It is over 6 ft from head of bed and I can feel it. It is too bad someone can't invent something like a tanning bed but with water cooling. ... show more

I honestly can’t believe how fantastic it works. Living in South Florida our home gets warm during this time of year, even with our a/c working. So we have tower fans thru out our home. But if the room get slightly warm during late afternoon. The air that’s oscillating is the room temperature, so I decided to to try this unit out. And am so surprisingly shocked and happy of how extremely well it works. Please follow the instructions and there are plenty of them. But most importantly add cool or cold water to the tank and in the area on top of the controls please tap * symbol so you have all the benefits that this unit has to offer. I had bought a $600 AC unit for my living room and had to return it because it kept tripping my breakers. I saw this and thought I would give it a try. It was taller then I thought it would be which was nice. The air pressure from this thing is strong! I have cats and let's just say after I turned it on I needed to vacuum the cat hair up that it blew away. The air isn't "AC unit cold" but it is nice. I live in Florida and it's to dang hot out and this helps when my AC unit needs help cooling off the house. I don't use the ice packs provided as they warm up to fast and take up to much room so I just use ice from my freezer and it works great. If you need something to help cool off a room and dont/can't want a actual AC unit this is a good second option. ... show more

For the first few weeks I had this thing it seemed great, it was cooling my room down a little bit... not a whole lot, but enough to feel comfortable especially when the fan was blowing right on me. As of today: - Needs to be refilled every couple hours - Leaking water all over the place - The back fins are all bent to hell up and down the unit and are super dirty - Unit doesn't use all the water and it seems to recycle some of the water? Debris has been found in the units waters tank when I empty the remaining water out to refill it. - Unit smells horrible and musty when running it with water now I would return it as it's not functioning properly anymore, but after checking my Amazon status it says I'm exactly 1 day past the return window... so now I'm just stuck with this thing. I purchased this thinking it was a new unit and if it is new, this is a pretty terrible experience to have it deteriorate in only a month. If it was a refurbished unit, that's pretty sketch that they didn't disclose that information. Either way, not happy with my purchase. ... show more
