This bed rail comes almost completely assembled, the two pieces click on, no tools needed. Very solid construction and fits tightly and strongly on the bed. I'm sure it would hold an adult in, so no doubts about a baby or child. Dream On Me products all seem to be of high quality, carefully made and designed with safety in mind. It's also an attractive item. I like that the center panel is mesh so you can easily see out and in, which is nice as well as important and prevents smothering hazard if child rolls into it with face. Overall vrry happy.     • Great rail for the price
Does at it advertises. My daughter just started to sleep in her converted crib to big girl bed and needed a rail to keep her from falling out from all the aerobics she does in her sleep. The rail is very simple to put together and lets my daughter climb in and out of her bed freely. I didn't care too much about the color that it came in, but if you do, they have it in pink and white as well. I haven't had any issues with the rail as far as safety concerns goes. I would definitely recommend if you're just starting to sleep train your toddler and on a budget. ... show more

    • Poor directions & design for my crib conversion
Taking off a star for directions & fit. So I ended up with the cover on backwards because the bars in the direction pictures didn't match the bars I received. What I received, the lowest bar curves downward & inward toward the mattress. But you don't find that out until you go to install the bars that go under the mattress...which is the final step of putting it together. In the diagrams they're all straight across bars, no indication that a bar curves inward, & there's no indication if the cover is going on with the zippers facing inward or outward. All it takes is something on the diagram for installing the cover "lettering/logo/zippers face out" or something. It seems like common sense. But when you have a kid up your butt while you're trying to put it together, you probably aren't going back on Amazon or looking at the image on the box itself to see the final appearance. You're just digging in trying to get it done as fast as possible because you're getting interrupted a million times from little hands wanting to help. Zipping the cover was also very difficult & I was worried it would pull apart behind the zipper. I'm sure it will loosen as the foam squishes over time. But right out of the box, it's very tough to zip up. So anyway, with that out of the way, and not wanting to fight with it all over again, I left the cover on backwards & went up to install it. Imagine my added frustration when I discovered that because of the baseboard to my crib, that rises almost an inch above the springs, the bed rail tipped inward significantly. The strap is wider than the bed at its smallest adjustment. So it's not made for your standard crib width (which is also toddler bed width). In order to get it to be less tipped, and less noisy on the springs, I had to lay down a blanket over the springs and squish the mattress so that the stubby "legs" on the bed rail were jammed between the mattress and the lower side board of the crib. The mattress is still tipped because the supports that go under the mattress are both tilted & lifting it up, and the support bar along the edge curves inward, scooping that side of the mattress up. I'm sure it would work fine on a heavy adult mattress, but toddler mattresses are so lightweight that it just lifts it right up. ... show more

    • Good cheap alternative
The rail works well on a toddler bed. The disclaimer on the packaging is likely just a legal CYA; it works well enough to keep my child from rolling off the bed and stays in place as long as he doesn't try to hang from it. My only complaint is that the anchoring method is not the most secure. A child can move the rail by pushing against it but a couple of heavy duty zip ties did the trick. The legal disclaimer probably means it's not for those who don't color outside the lines though. ... show more

We bought one about 4 years ago when our oldest was ready for a toddler bed and it worked great then. Over 2 years and several moves, we lost a piece and had to reorder another for our youngest who just moved into a big kid bed. It's very easy to install and works great and is very sturdy and strong. It might not look like much, but it gets the job done. I will say, when I first bought this 4 years ago, it was cheaper by half the current price. We bought the second one used and it looked and seemed brand new, just seemed like someone returned it bc they didn't like it or didn't know how to install it. Lucky for us! ... show more

    • it does the job!
Pretty easy to install and it does the job - my son has been sleeping in his crib with this rail installed and we had no accidents... He just turned 2 and it is resistant enough for when he "hangs" from it to go up and down his bed. A few comments: You have to make sure the crib mattress is not too light - because it your mattress is really light the rail may flip and not stay put. Also, when adjusting the harness - make sure you adjust real tight- otherwise your kid will flip the rail. The way I installed mine to make sure it is really tight was by placing the harness end below the crib frame and not just in the gap as it describes. You may not have any idea of what I am trying to say but when you have the product in your hands you will understand what I mean.
