  • Works great with my MDX
Not to hard to install. Did it by myself, but would certainly be a lot easier with two people. Definitely use a wire brush to clean out the tack welded nuts inside your box frame before installation. I failed to do that and one of the nuts broke off inside the frame. That's a lot harder to recover from than cleaning out the threads in the first place! ... show more

  • Careful w Refurbished Used Item
No nuts and washers with hitch! Bolts are included, but the "used" discounted item did not include when it arrived. If I had known, I would not have bought "used" discounted 20% item for it s "second life", I would have paid full price. I live way out in the country many miles from nearest hardware store. I had wanted to install this holiday weekend and utilized. I did call as website said, the manufacturer, but have not heard from them yet after auto voice mail system. I called them at 11AM EST. I hope for a call back with a $30. Amazon credit for me to go get my own nuts and washers plus 40 miles of driving. ... show more

  • FIt, with aid of a hammer...
Well, it arrived quickly; I came home yesterday to find it lying on my front porch. No packaging, just the hardware bag taped into the receiver hole. Lots of finish missing but hey, it's a trailer hitch, not a hood ornament. Since it was a balmy 40 degrees in central PA yesterday afternoon, I decided I should take the 15 minutes and throw it on real quick. 2008 Honda Pilot. 1st thing was to remove the tow hook from the LR of the vehicle. No problems, there, 17mm socket, 6 inch extension, 1/2" ratchet. I used a floor jack under the left side of the hitch because the right side has to me maneuvered out around and then over the muffler. Loosely attached the 3 bolts on the right side, rolled over to the left side ,and only the rear hole lined up. The middle hole was showing about halfway, and the hole closest to the front of the vehicle was completely obscured by the flange of the hitch. So I took it back down and I realized that the left end of the hitch was bent in a significant amount; maybe like it was stood up on end and dropped a couple or 20 times onto the concrete. So what's a guy to do? Find his big f^$*ing hammer, that's what. I ended up bolting the hitch back onto the right side with all 3 bolts tight and the hitch itself shifted as far to the left as possible. With the one bolt in the left side, I proceed to hammer the living crap out of the end of the flange until the middle hole lined up. I installed the bolt in the middle hole, and then went back to hammering until the 3rd hole lined up. Tightened up the bolts, perfect. Maybe I'll spray a little rust-o-leum on it once the weather warms up. Final score: 3 lb Estwing hammer 1; Cheap hitch 0. ... show more

  • Works like it should.
Im happy with it. It was pretty easy to install. Heads up. The existing factory bolts are probably the ones you will want to use. They are tapered on the end. The ones that are sent with the unit are a pain to get started. Also, make sure you WD-40 the crap out of the factory bolts. Let them sit for about 30 min before you try to remove them. I used a hydraulic wrench. ... show more

  • Stout hitch
Well built. Bought for a2005 Honda Pilot. Propped up the hitch on the driver side with a 5 gallon bucket and got bolts started. Used same bucket on passenger side and put in remaining bolts. Had to remove the tow hook, did not touch anything on the muffler side. Frame holes were rusty so I needed a12mm by 1.25 mm tap to clean them. $9 on Amazon. Not a common size. You won't find it in the tap and die kits. Tried using a thread chaser at first but it wasn't tapered enough to get a clean start in the rust and tried to cross thread or just not start at all. This hitch is very solid. Even though it lacks mounting holes at the middle of the frame there is no need for them. Very pleased with it. ... show more

  • Good
Really nice and easy to install

  • Such an easy hitch receiver to install!
This was such an easy install. Three bolts to remove the tail hitch, and then you have to install this with 6 bolts, 3 on each side. The instructions said you have to drop the exhaust, but I think that's out of an abundance of caution because I didn't have to. This was also SUBSTANTIALLY cheaper than anyplace else I've looked. Even places with hitch receivers in my town wanted double this price...with an install labor/price of 150-200$!!! This is easy, and cheap. CONS: Some of the finished coating had rubbed off en route, and it appears that's a common thing in the reviews. Touch it up, or leave it go...easy. ... show more

  • Easy to Install, Looks Professional.
This arrived faster than expected (pre-COVID) and fits my 2006 Pilot perfectly! It was easy to install, though I want to weld it on the bolts (recommended by Honda and in general just for safety), so I will need help with that but it went on fast and easily with a torque wrench at a “self-help” car center (military base). It may have been easier because they have a lift and air compressor tools, but I imagine with an extra hand, ratchet mechanics wrench and drive on lifts, it would still go easily. It is nice and thick metal, clean looking, and sturdy. I paired it with a pigtail purchased in Amazon Garage since my SUV didn’t have one. ... show more
