  • Good Engine Hoist
Received the hoist this week and put it together in just a few hours. I got it just a few days after the order. Really fast shipping. If you had a helper, which is not really needed, the assembly would go faster. It came in two boxes by UPS, which was nice, they just left it at the front door. I did not see any instructions inside the boxes, only a parts diagram/list. That was enough information for assembly, but I suggest you measure each bolt and sort them for each location. It makes putting it together much faster. Put on the casters first (nuts inside the frame so that the casters will turn - that takes a minute or two to align the nuts with the caster bolts which are several inches into the frame). Then put together the lower framework, add the top framework and you are in business. The metal framework seems heavy duty. Like other comments, you will have to center the load to avoid tipping. I haven't tested it under a real heavy load but the ram jack seems to be holding pressure. The floor to end of the supplied hook is 89 inches at maximum height (but lower load limits). I like the extra height capability. At that height, however, your load is brought fairly close the ram jack, so it couldn't be a huge item. That said, I plan on using mine for typical engine work, hold up side of the truck hood to replace hinges, hold up doors to replace hinges, and eventually put the bed back on my old pickup (which will still take a few extra helpers, but this will definitely make it much easier). Except for replacing the pickup bed, I now can do all the work by myself, besides being able to use it for general shop use. At the price, I think it's a good deal. ... show more

  • missing more than half the hardware
arrived missing casters, all the bolts were of the wrong size, missing washers, lock nuts, pins so many things. it's almost comical that there appears to be no quality control regarding what is shipped. the actual metal pieces look like good quality, but why after so many reviews that say pieces are missing the seller has not been compelled to realize this and check inventory in the box before shipping it is really puzzling. ... show more

  • The "Extra" 6 hands I didn't have ..
Project: Lift the box off my '06 Ranger to allow painting/preserving trucks frame with POR-15.. Not that a 6' Ranger box is all that heavy, but just heavy enough, and awkward enough to handle that this thing was a Miracle Tool .. Being retired, and not having 3 (healthy) friends to call on for help, this was a "must have" for my project.. The price was right, the quality is excellent, worked like a charm and was on my door-step in no time .. What more can you ask for ? Due to VERY limited storage space, I intend to make some minor modifications to allow better compacting .. Nothing that will compromise safety, or capability of the hoist.. Nit-picks: Hardware supplied could use extra washers, and/or self-locking nuts, for those of us who intend to leave it assembled permanently .. You will also need extra washers to center the boom in it's saddle.. I did find a couple hoists of this size cheaper, but, believe me, THEY'RE CHEAPER, and not the quality of this one.. ... show more

  • Good Product, One Weak Latch doesn’t Ruin It
I think this is a very good hoist. I wish it had been shipped better as there were some paint chips but I didn’t care as I don’t care if it is pretty but if it worked. The only issue I have had is on the hook, the “locking” latch on the hook is very week. The hook itself is sturdy but the latch bent the second time I used it. From then on I just needed to be a little more aware where the chain was sitting on the hook and the latch didnt matter at that point. Only complaint is I wish it had locking casters and a little larger wheels. Also on the wheels the space to attach them is very tight so you may want to use a wrench to hold the nut on the inside instead of your hand (sounds simple but you will see during assembly) they should just ship with wheels attached. ... show more

  • Just Buy This! No reservations needed.! Just Buy This! No reservations needed.!
Unbelievable. I cant get over how nice this unit is. 2 boxes of quality Heavy Duty materials. Seriously. I think A reasonable buyer would be happy at double thw cost of thisnthing. The welds, the increddible thickness of the bolts (22mm and 24mm) and even the metal. This would be $1000 more if it was made in USA. Buy it now. There is no compareison with the other items in this price. For about $50 more, this is more than twice the workmanship and quality. The bilts are thicker than my fingers, seriously. Thankgoodness It was double boxed, box within a.box. The interior bix had given way to the massive weight and the packages of bolts, nuts, washers, were everywhere. The seccond outter bix was in tact and everysingle peice was accounted for. Its built well with first vlass materials, its like a shiwpiece, but arrived with some scratches and one dent on the hydralic jack. No complaints. Its all good. I totally love it. Recommend. But there are basically no instructions. One sheet of contents descriptions arrived torn up. But it sufficed. If you are me hanically inclined to work on your car, tnen this is easier than a piece of cake. Heavy duty. All the way. Do not buy the accessory nolts teccomended by amazon in the suggestions. What a waste of $12. They arrive without a single nut, and are litterally 1/2 the size of the Dragway included bolts and nuts. Trash. Maybe they can be used to mount a cheap winch??? ... show more

  • A great hoist
So far we are very pleased with the engine hoist. As other have said the hoist arrives in two fairly heavy boxes and they are heavy. A rather burley, young UPS driver had some trouble getting them off his truck. The hoist is not well packaged so you can expect to find some paint damage and in our case a couple of the hardware packages were ruptured so the hardware was floating throughout the box. Fortunately all the hardware was still there in spite of a couple of puncture hole in the shipping boxes. The hoist was easily assembled, my wife and I did it in under an hour. We've use the hoist several times now removing and installing the engine and engine and transmission combination from our hot rod pick-up; the hoist lifts that load with ease. The degree of control while lowering the load is excellent and the hoist rolls easily on its steel caster. Finally being able to fold the legs is a big benefit for those with storage space issues. • Did the job
Lifted my engine out, but both of the longer legs have started to warp from the weight. Mind you, this is rated for almost 3 times the weight of my engine. Boon arm is fine. Chain off the boon is fine. Just the legs that lay down ... they started to bend up near the shear pins. Update: At this point I've put the engine back into the truck. This thing is a real pain to move around while it's holding the engine, and the leg that bent when removing the engine just feels unsafe. With the engine on the crane, only three wheels are touching because the leg is warped so much. I'm taking another star off for this. I mean, the crane survived the job, but just barely. For the money I paid, I should expect this thing to survive many jobs without warping and bending. I'd ask to exchange the product, but at this point I've had it for a few months (takes an individual longer to do this stuff than a shop). While it did do the job, I'm pretty unsatisfied with the fact that it's essentially scrap at this point. ... show more

  • Shipped a returned, incomplete, and possibly defective product.
Recieved Jan 25 2017. Do not buy. I believed I was shipped a returned product without the company even checking the contents of the box. Either that or they just did not care if they were shipping a defective and incomplete product. The crane came in two boxes. The large of the two boxes had three boxes, one inside the other like russian dolls. The outer box and next box looked fine. No signs of damage but the inner box looked like some had gone after it with a pick axe. Before I got the inner box open lock washers and nuts were falling out of the box. There was also signs of fluid damage on the box. I found out later it was hydrolic fluid. I opened the inner box to find its contents covered in hydrolic fluid l. The bag of bolts and washers had several hole in it and only about half of the contents were still in the bag. After carefully inventoring the contents I knew I was one bolt and a few washer short of a full package. Luckily i had suitable replacements near by. The ram jack quickly spat its remaining fluid into the inner box when I picked it up. Even with all the problem I decided to assembler the crane anyway. As I did I began to notice that it looked like someone had already assembly this before. There was paint on some of the bolts and the nuts were scratched. Now the crane sits assembled in my garage. It is currently not in a functioning state. I have my mechanic coming tomarrow. I bought this crane to lift the finally tools of my woodshop off their pallets. If i have to return this crane and wait pn another it will cost more than this crane is worth. ... show more
