Why did you pick this product vs others?: Great if you're starting out. No trouble with set up, tho the battery does not last long so I would recommend hooking it up to a machine for big tattoo jobs.

This is such an interesting machine. It's a wireless tattoo pen, and it's meant to be a sort of crossover between tattooing, and also PMU (Permanent Make Up). But how well does it work. I will say that this is a thinner, lighter pen, and yet it's far from what one is used to seeing for PMU. Those tend to be much thinner, actually more closely resembling actual ink pens. But, it's definitely slimmed down when compared to a more traditional tattoo pen. This may have some distinct advantages. For one thing, it's more stable for very precise work like that in PMU. I tend to think most PMU pens are too light, and thus don't pack the punch that a pen like this has. Naturally, that's a trade off, and the relative heft of this pen (compared to PMU pens, in general) may be too much for some PMU artists. However, those that try it will find it's more effective, and easier to control. Likewise, doing standard duty as a wireless tattoo pen, that lack of heft when compared to most tattoo pens, will be felt, as well by the tattoo artist. But in terms of what this machine can do after working long, arduous hours tattooing cannot be understated. The lack of unnecessary weight in that case is a big plus. Personally, I don't care for the grip area, but we know that you can easily alter that to your preference with just folded paper towel & grip tape. The fit and finish is fine, albeit a bit glossy for my taste. It's a good looking machine, with 3 button operation, and very nice, multi-color display. It's wireless, and comes with an extra battery, as well as a conversion cap with RCA jack. This allows the option of using this on an AC power setup. There's even an extra battery pack. I like the way it runs, and it has a good working range of 4.0v to 12.0v, and it's absolutely quiet, and silky smooth throughout. If I had to point out one aspect that was most impressive, that would be it. It runs beautifully. The rest of the kit is fine, and I'm not going to run through it. Take a look at the pics, and you will know all you need to. I can definitely see a place for this tattoo/PMU pen in a tattoo shop, particularly when it comes to very highly detail, and intricate work. I don't do PMU, so it's difficult to speak to that. Overall, a superb little machine, with a big heart. I think it's a very good value, and you'll certainly be impressed by the way it runs.

I ordered this for my wife who is beginning to get into tattoo work. Everything was packaged very well and all of the components seem to be very good quality. On some of our tests, it was a little difficult to get clear and well-defined thin lines, but that could be because of our "beginner" skills. The weight feels good and the vibration is pretty low, so it does function well with great accuracy. It feels durable but only time will tell. For the money, I think it is a great deal for any beginner, budding tattoo artist.
