As someone who - a few years ago - had a 1.5" needle stuck in his left foot for 4 days - without knowing it! - I take the safety of my feet very serious. Ly. My favorite brand of steelsoles no longer sells to the general public; and I've had nothing but disappointments from other steel junk ever since. Didn't fit, too stiff, didn't bend, etc. I decided to give these a try. The description sure sounds fantastic! But I decided to do a quick test first, with a simple, not overly sharp push pin. It took this arthritic 55 year old guy less than a second to shove that push pin completely through that insole. Sure, the fabric resisted, otherwise it would've taken half a second. And I wondered how long it would take to get punctured if I were to step on something like this with all of my body weight. A split second? Not good!! However: I was in for a bit of a surprise when I tried to trim these to size. I had a seriously hard time doing that; it took minutes to trim just one of them! Changing from the scissors to a - sharp - heavy duty wire cutter didn't speed up things. So: they're strong - in a way - and would definitely protect themselves from getting trimmed to size. But the chance of me stepping on a thorn, or needle, nail or pin are considerably higher than stepping in a pair of scissors. And for that, these insoles may not do the job. It's irritating and potentially dangerous; but only time will tell. For now though, I'm comfortable in saying that these by no means are a suitable replacement for steel insoles; and I'm not putting my feet's safety in these guys' hands. Nor soles! ... show more

    • Saveing $$ on shoe.
I bought a cheap pair of slip on shoes and in no time the sole became porous and water would get into the shoe from the bottom. What the soles are made of now are crap. Cheap shoes are $50. So. I bought these to put in the old shoes with the rotten insole and it's working out. A temp fix that's lasted a couple months now. One has to shell out $100 for a fair quality shoe! These trimmed to fit. slipped in and conformed. No slipping. Actually they are better than the original insole. ... show more

    • Thick & Hard to Trim
This insole is quite thick by intention, I guess. That makes it quite difficult to trim with scissors. It raised my foot up enough in the toe box to make the shoe rub on the top of my foot.

I bought these to prevent nails from going through my sole. Long story. I thought that with medal in the sole that I would be uncomfortable. Yet, I can wear these all day with no discomfort. I just wear them on the weekends when I'm doing things around the house. Update: after wearing them for a long time, they remain very comfortable. ... show more
