  • Full Install from Scratch in My Video -- Pretty Nice Unit
The media could not be loaded. If you want to see how I installed this unit in my converted bus, which is becoming an RV, check out my video. Overall, I found the installation pretty straightforward and was able to complete it in half a day. Note that if you're just buying this to replace an existing AC unit, the install should be easier as you'll just be pulling the old unit, attaching the wires, and putting the new unit in place. The only downside I have with this unit has to do with the control unit, which is sold separately. First of all, I find that control unit plasticky and fragile. Also, I was bummed out to learn that the control unit did not come with this AC unit, as it has NO CONTROLS! It's overpriced in my opinion given the fact that this unit has no controls in and of itself. Overall a great rooftop AC unit. As for cooling power, I have a large bus/RV that is 40 feet long. In most larger RVs, I've seen people run two or even three of these units. So it doesn't have the ultimate cooling power or anything like that. But it does blow cold and has not blown my circuits, so I'm happy with it. One final note: this baby runs on AC 110, so the power you get when you plug into a standard outlet. It's not a low-power 12v unit or anything like that. ... show more

  • Great ac
We replaced an old Dometic in our 36 foot camper (vented). The install was a simple swap, all holes lined up, the electric plug back in with no trouble. Getting it on the camper was the most "difficult" part of it, and my husband made it look easy. I've seen people "sled" them up ladders as well though. I watched a YouTube video for instructions, very easily done. Some say it doesn't come with instructions, but I found the instructions under the ac in the box. I didn't need them, but they were there. It works well to keep a 36 footer comfortable, all by itself. It doesn't seem to be any quieter than the original, but it isn't any louder either. We're very pleased with it. Esp with the ease of swapping them out. ... show more

  • Ac worked like it shoud
The ac was dropped at some point and was damaged. Dented in on the corner of it. It did have a vibration when bolted down but fixed it.

  • Great unit with easy insteucrions
Its a bit noisy but it cools down our 16 ft camper in no time. Our 1972 camper isnt the most sealef and energy efficient and this thing was able o stave off the Florida and Georgia heat

  • AC itself works great. Really easy to install.
AC is easy to install. This was a new install into a converted bus so roof needed to be cut. You do not need the gasket kit that amazon says you will need. It is already installed on AC unit and ready to go. You also DO NOT need the remote control unit the the manufacture says you will (its optional) need BUT YOU DO need the main control unit (Dometic Air Conditioners 3314851.000 Adb Man Control PLR Wht F/All) for the inside as this is JUST the AC unit that you will see outside. Well insulated is the key! I installed this with the insulation incomplete. In the full sun, it cooled the bus but not very well. Full sun after insulation, it gets very cold. The fan speeds are high, med and low. For both air and AC. Low blows pretty hard and high is super HIGH! The unit from the outside (and inside) is quite. I can barely hear it from outside the bus. Overall... unit is great. SHIPPING... not so great. The box itself didnt have dents or tears but the base of the unit was dented in in several places. UPS driver said it was 150 LBS but its more like 80 LBS like amazon and the manufacture says ... show more

  • Very good A/C units, but 1 of the 2 ordered for a food truck came in with a hole puncture in a line
Lucky for me I have a good A/C friend that was able to fix it pretty cheap. during shipping, the box was likely pinched on one side causing the plastic housing to push in on the side right where a screw wsas hold the housing onto the frame. that screw was directly pointed at the copper tubing on the unit. it punctured the line and all the gas leaked out. It would have cost me more to send it back for another or repaired, So I just sucked it up and had this friend do it. ... show more

  • Oh, um junk
The product was an exact replacement for the original. But you would think it would at least come with a recharging port. $1000 every time these things go bad...??? The cover came damaged so it had to be super glued back together. Update. 7 months and now it stops working. Condenser pulling high amps with everything 'working on the unit. What junk. ... show more

  • Quiet meat locker cold air!
Dometic has been in the RV appliance game for many years. They make quality products that typically last. The unit I purchased was a slam dunk installation. The package was shipped via FedEx and arrived fairly quickly. Package condition was a bit questionable upon first sight however, the unit was mint. I think FedEx is hiring former airline baggage handlers these days... Unit performance is amazing. In a 26' Skyline, the unit is set on low cool in 96° sunny weather, doing a great job of keeping my cat and I cool and comfy! Temp control is set 1/4th of the scale and very nice in my trailer! ... show more
