  • My front a/c could not keep up in the summer heat and I am very glad i got this unit
I Purchased this a/c unit as a second unit for my four winds 31e. My front a/c could not keep up in the summer heat and I am very glad i got this unit. This thing blows ice cold. Prior to this unit on a 95+ degree day the best i could do was mid 80's. Now i have no problem keeping it in the low 70's during the heat of the day and could probably do better if i wanted. We no longer have to keep on reminding everyone to keep the door closed to keep the air in. I did a lot of research on these unit and they do have some bad reviews about units failing after a year of use. I decided to go for it based on the fact that it seem like the best bang for the buck. It has only been installed for 2 weeks so time will tell. Installation was very simple and the unit was installed in my old bedroom vent/skylight in about 2 hours. It took me about another 3 hours to run the wiring as my coach was not wired for a second unit. After running this a/c I am thinking there may be something wrong with my other coleman mach unit as it does not blow anywhere as cold. The unit is a little noisy but the cold air is well worth the noise. I did have an issue with the unit short cycling and would only cool the room down to about 69 degrees before the compressor would kick off even at the coldest setting. i did some research and found there is a thermostat adjustment screw in the housing where the temperature control nobs are located. after opening the box and adjusting the screw a few rotations the a/c works like a dream. It will get my camper down to the hanging meat category. Everyone in my crew are happy campers now and this is by far the best upgrade i made to the camper for summer camping. ... show more

  • Issues right away, trying to work with seller and no communication. Buy local and save the headache.
Issues as soon as it powered up, for the first day the compressor went out on LRA if trying to start sooner than 20 minutes from shutting off. The fan is so out of balance the whole camper shakes and the seller has zero customer service. Explained the issues on the return request and they approved the return of it was new and unused. How else would the issue of shown themselves if it was unused. Now I'm out 800$ and have a unit that is so loud to use it's pointless to run. Junk unit and poor service. Here is my email to Dometic after being told to jump through hoops. Hello, Thank you for the reply. This will be the last Dometic product I purchase. I work for an large HVAC manufacturing company and we actually stand behind our product and do not make our customer End Users or not jump through hoops and waste money on needless "service" calls to determine what was already known. By the time I pay for fuel and any service charges not covered by warranty and deal with the down time of not having an RV by taking it in to be serviced when I am fully certified and capable of doing the work myself I'd be better off to discard the cheaply made unit and purchase an different brand that actually works. The cost for another brand new unit would be similar to the cost and aggravation of jumping through your needless hoops only implemented so you don't have to warranty any more of your substandard units than necessary. I will also never purchase from your dealer that sold me the unit then prolonged the whole process until it was past their warranty time. Poor customer service and substandard units will not help a business flourish. The Manufacturing company I work for actually QC's their product before it leaves the line to help our customers from receiving defective units. Thank you, ... show more

  • Thanks Dometic
Did a total a/c renovation on our 2001 bumper-pull camper. Bought this unit (which includes roof gasket) and also bought a new Dometic digital thermostat and the interior air vent from Amazon. Had to call up Dometic and ordered the new electronic computer for this unit (later I also learned this part or kit includes the 4 long bolts that bolt into the bottom of this unit). Dometic staff was very helpful to find the correct part number for me and it was shipped to me promptly. Dometic also sends you an extended warranty option (for 1 to 3 years additional coverage) after you register the unit with them. So far the unit has ran great for the past 5 months and will get the 27' camper down to 65 at night easy in the FL summer. I will buy more Dometic products in the future because great customer service is hard to come by! ... show more

  • Great AC.
Arrived as mentioned. Replaced our 9 year old unit that wouldn’t cool anymore. Approximately 1 hour to install with help. Very cold air! Perfect.
