  • Great little kit
Our golden retrievers love to play in the water. Be it clear, flowing creek water, or nasty, grungy, puddle water, they love to splash and roll in it. Because of this, our pups often have ear trouble. We hate to have to clean their ears with alcohol, but in the past we've done this to keep infection down from those wet, damp ears and the nasty bacteria that grows in the water where they love to play. When Marcy starts scratching her ears, we know it's time to see the vet. But we tried this kit, and so far it has been great. She doesn't like it, but we clean her ears out after a day of play in the water. We keep the hair inside her ears trimmed with the handy trimmers. We haven't had to use the hemostat clamps yet. But the trimmers have really helped keep her ears healthy. When we give her a bath, we always make a point to trim her ear hairs, and we use a small bit of the ear powder when drying her off. It is a lot of work to keep their ears healthy when they play in muddy, icky water, but this kit has helped make it a little bit easier. I'm especially a fan of the little clippers. If you have the time to use this kit properly, I recommend it. It is a hassle, yes, but our pets are worth it. ... show more

  • Seems to Work OK
I've tried a few of these for cleaning my dogs' ears... this is about average. It works well enough to clean their ears. I just think this is a hard thing to do myself and I'm not sure any cleaner/tools will make it easy! I'll keep at it and hopefully this will help with their ears!

  • Very good quality!
There is another review for this that says the ingredients are not listed on the plucking powder, but mine has a list on the side. It says there is silica, boric acid, mint extract, natural zeolite, magnesium stearate, etc - This matches up with what my vet/groomer said to use. It made it very easy to grip the little hairs in my dogs ears, and the hemostat pliers are great! They are solid and well made. I used the trimmers on a tiny bit of my own arm hair to make sure it is safe, and it is gentle but pretty effective. I will not be using these on my dog since I take her to the groomer twice a month. My doggie loves her groomer, but for some reason I am the only one she will allow to pluck her ear hair. This kit worked really well for me. The one I got is the variation listed as: "0.9 cm Dog Hair Clipper Set," but I am pretty sure every single variation in the listing are identical. They seem to be all the same price, include the same things and have the same descriptions as far as I can tell? ... show more

  • works well
I have toy poodles that grow a lot of ear hair and they have small ear holes and I have big thick fingers. That is problematic because the hair in their ears grows like cotton balls every month and my big thick fingers can't get into the ear holes to pluck it out. That's where this ear cleaning kit comes in handy. It has a 5.5" locking hemostat that can more easily grip ear hair to pluck out than I can. It comes with ear powder to sprinkle inside the ear to coat the hair and make it less greasy allowing you to get a slip free grip on the hair. It also came with a nice set of small clippers that have a rounded ceramic blade head as well a light at the end of it so you can see what you're clipping around the ear opening. By doing this bit of grooming myself I am saving $20 a dog from what the vet wants to charge me. And I can do it when I want to, not by appointment. ... show more

  • Great for matted fur on cats!
I have a long haired kitty that gets matted fur at least once a year towards the end of summer as the new winter coat starts to grow in. She has angora-like soft hair so all the brushing in the world does not prevent small tufts of matted hair. The small lightweight clippers in this pack have been a complete life saver. She doesn't mind the low noise and vibration and we have been able to easily clip off the mats. Great item! ... show more

  • Didn't work for me
I don't think I can recommend this dog ear cleaning set. First, the bottle of powder. Nowhere, bottle, box, insert or product page say what the powder is made of. I'm not comfortable with that. The instruction manual is full of spelling errors/typos, red flag to me. The clippers don't really do a good job. It would take a long time to remove my dog's ear hair and she did not care for me trying it on her at all. I get quicker and better results with blunt scissors. I would not buy this product again. ... show more

  • Works Very Well
The ear powder is silky smooth and dries the ear hair which makes it sort of brittle and easy to remove the hair in the canal. The hemostats worked good and removed the finer hairs that the powder didn't adhere to. The hemostats also have a lockdown on it so you don't have to worry that the hair might slip out. The trimmers worked great on the last bit of hairs on the bulb of the bottom part of the ear which most dogs hate to have plucked or the hemostats remove. These hairs are typically super fine and can only be removed using the trimmers. The trimmer also did a decent job removing the extra hairs around the edges of the ears on the inside. I've been grooming dogs for over 30 years and I'm a little OCD when it comes to the dogs ears and feet. Overall, everything worked as described and I would recommend this Pawsitive Vibes dog ear cleaner set. ... show more

  • Good trimmers
PROS: - The trimmers are small and well-suited for trimming the hair between the paws. - The trimmers are also quiet, which is especially important for skittish dogs. - Comes with a tiny bottle of what I think is clipper oil, but it's not in the instructions. CONS: - The first ingredient on the ear powder is "herbal plant extract". Uhh... what does THAT mean? Which herb? Is it just some random plant? What if my dog is allergic to it? - The already tiny bottle of clipper oil is less than half full, and I never even opened it. ... show more
