My giant 7-year-old schnoodle has never wanted me to touch his ears even since a puppy. I would take advantage of vet visits to have them pull at least some of the hair out. I wouldn’t worry about it, but he would sometimes have wet ear problems after swimming in our pool. I ordered this kit and after tiring him on a walk and finding him relaxing on the floor, I sprinkled some powder into his ear and got to work. I gently pulled with the hemostatic forceps and he barely blinked. I got tons of wet hair out that had burrowed into his canal. After removing most of the hair, I sprinkled a little more powder inside to relieve any possible itching from the ordeal. This is a great kit and the forceps helped tremendously. ... show more

These work great. I got a different set and decided it was easier to just pay the extra $10 and let the groomer do it. Well that's because the tool wasn't as efficient. She's still not crazy about it but it's got to be done or she gets ear infections. Great set. Recommended.

I've been grooming dogs professionally over 40 years. I'm always on the lookout for products that will help in productivity. Ear powder is essential for remove the ear hair that comes from the ear canal. This powder does a very nice job of drying out the hair on contact allowing the hair to become brittle and allowing the hair to come out easier and less trauma to the dog. Sometimes you have hairs that are stubborn and don't want to come out. That is where these hemostats work wonders. This set does really well in locking into place once the hair is firmly attached it makes pulling those hairs out of the ear canal. These hemos are made of durable stainless steel and fully serrated which doesn't allow the hair to move once the hemos are locked down. I have to pluck my doodle's ears, and this ear powder is a game changer. It quickly absorbs oil and moisture which makes the hair easy to grab and grip. The long tip makes application easy. I only use a little puff at a time so this will last us forever. I use ear wipes to clean out any excess powder when I'm done.
