Good place to start. You couldn't buy the material and put it together the way it comes for less than $90. That being said you will be fixing things on this and modifying. I had mine burning as hot as I could get it(two sections of chimney pipe were glowing red.) It warped and popped a couple of seams, was still able to use it like that. I will be welding the seams back together. Smokes out the front when you open door to add wood. I found tilting the stove foward so smoke naturally flowed to the back helped a ton. May add a 1" plate at door opening to help catch some of that smoke as well. When drafting propery after getting up to temp I didn't experience any leaks. I would probably start it with the tent open and plenty of ventilation until things get up to temp and then just keep her running! I also placed some large rocks around my stove to help hold some of the heat in my tent area( thermal mass). I would recommend this stove for car camp only, not a back packing stove. While it is light it's also kinda heavy to be packing around!

We are using this stove as back up if grid goes down , no more propane , we wont freeze! Its small, but i believe from using it once as we have, it will do the trick.

For the price and for the small space I need it to heat up...works better than I could have expected. Only drawback (and I knew this prior to ordering) is a constant need to feed it wood because of its size. Again, I knew this prior, so this was not a big deal for me...

I wanted a wood stove for tent camping. This seemed like a good stove that it is not so heavy and bulky. Tried it the first time and it emit these burning paint smell and smoke. After about half an hour later it seemed to had no paint smell. This stove does have issue with smoke leaking. So you will have smoke occasionally in the tent. The biggest issue is that the paint is cheap. It does not withstand the heat and came off. The top of the stove is white. I tried wiping it off, and most of the top paint came off. This does not affect the performance, but kind of make the stove look cheap.

This is a well built little wood stove perfect for 10 camping or as emergency heat piped out a window. I wish that it had a better seal on the front door at first but when the fire is burning properly there is no smoke coming back through the door so it's awesome! Got myself a duffel bag with a hard bottom and I can put it right inside there with my fire kit and some small kindling and it's ready to go for camping or emergency!

If I could give this product negative stars … I promise I would… I was so excited about this product. I recently purchased a stargazer tent and thought this would be an excellent addition to our winter camping… Boy was I wrong.. the assembly was easy… The smoke off was easy… However, when we moved the stove in the tent, we didn’t realize there was smoke escaping from the base of bottom pipe attached to the stove and all around the door of the unit. At the end of the night, when we settled in and windows and doors were rolled down… the room filled with smoke.. my wife realized she couldn’t see the other side of the room… We quickly got up.. One of us tackled the fire.. while the other got the windows and door back open.. We spent the night huddled in our sleeping bags… The next morning, we relit it to discover where the smoke was escaping. On top of all that, the legs of the stove neatly burnt through the bottom of our new tent. The fire mat underneath apparently got so hot it started to melt into the tent floor. Lucky we were able to separate the mat without causing a hole.

We’ve used the stainless steel option for a few campouts. By far my favorite thing compared to our other stove is the size because we’re able to put normal length logs in it (though it’s more convenient if they’re about an inch shorter). This makes camping prep and loading in the night much easier. It also allows for more heat or longer burn times. I also like that it isn’t collapsible and came fully assembled. This gave me a lot more confidence on its seal. Once we got the hang of the damper we were able to keep smoke out of the tent quite easily. Three minor changes I wish were different are 1) the pot lid has a hole for removal that sometimes can let smoke in if the damper isn’t correct 2) the feet are not tent floor friendly and make me nervous even with the heat blanket under it 3) I wish it came with a baffle to prevent fire from going up the flu These are minor inconveniences. We really like the stove and camped in 19 degree weather (Fahrenheit) with children.
