  • Not bad for the price
I normally use Wisdom Panel but was buying for one of our long term resident dogs at my rescue. Hoping maybe a DNA test to give more definitive description of his breeds would help get him adopted. Test is same as the other brands and simple to do. I sent the test off. It took about 2 weeks to arrive (but it went to Canada from GA so not terrible). Results were back about 10 days later. I love the certificate that you can print out with the breeds identified. I'll be printing it out to put in his adoption folder. Its kinda odd that most people that use this brand only get 4 breeds back, but since its a cheaper brand they may not have the extended database that the bigger ones do. I used the essentials (basic kit) and it is just the basics. It doesn't do any of the genetic markers for disease or issues like the other basic kits do. I didn't include a picture so I can't say the breeds identified were based on looks. 2 were expected, 1 isn't surprising, 1 was total shock. ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY! Complete scam
This will be my second review as the company had amazon delete my first review as they apparently didnt want my information to be see. Publicly. Pictured is my dog I had tested. This dog barey weighs 30lbs and is primarily a decker terrier, however we as a family wanted to see if she had any mixes in her and just overall get more info on our adopted pup. Again we already know she is primarily decker terrier, she has the exact size, coloring, eyes, ears. Tail and also the distinct traits deckers have such as forehead wrinkles. Upward swept tail, etc etc. My test was done perfectly, no other dogs in our house so contamination is impossible. We sent the results in the day after Christmas and it took a month exactly to get results. This is where it was very frustrating. We got the results back and like several others have said, they were so far off from our dog it is a physical impossibility that our dog is a mix of any of the breeds listed. Our 30lbs known decker rat terrier came back with 3 breeds, the first two were Lab and Boxer and a mixture of 40-60% each or level 2 on their test meaning she is basically half if each. Both these dog breeds are not only way bigger than what she is in height and weight but have distinct traits that our dog does not have such as boxers short snout and face with a blocky head, long legs, etc. The third breed comes back the only terrier breed found and listed as a trace amount of less than 10%. Oh ok well at least they came up with a terrier right? WRONG! The terrier breed listed was an American Staffordshire Terrier, a 50-80lbs massive dog with a pitbull like head and very thick body. Every single dog listed is over 50lbs, if she was any mixture of those 3 she wouldnt look anything like she does. And would weigh about double what she does. Moving forward I contacted the company through email in which they were prompt to respond initially. I purposely left out the picture on my test as to not skew results after reading the company may do this. In my email to them I supplied the same picture on this review after going back and a few emails regarding the results. The company claimed there is no refunds and the test is accurate. That was until they saw the picture of my Boxer/Lab/Staffordshire mix they claimed. Thats when emails stopped, they havent discussed or responded to my email since asking for a retest to prove the results. Why is this? Because they know their test is a scam, and couldnt possibly come up with those breeds for the dog listed. I would even buy another test if I knew Id be refunded for the false test, but to no avail they stand by their results that my 30lbs decker rat terrier is a Boxer Lab mix. Keep in mind no where on the results were the actual known breed she is, but DNAmydog doesnt care about papers, parent bloodlines or anything, their sham tests trump all the known history of a dog, not to mention common sense. I would question all the results from their lab, especially if you submitted pictures previous to results. Hopefully Amazon lets this review stand and stops supporting companies that are taking money for a product that is obviously not real. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID AND NOT LISTEN TO THESE REVIEWS. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. ... show more

  • Good value for the price
Nice and basic, not as expensive as other brands. Easy sample collection and timely turn-around of the results. I was surprised at the 2 breeds they identified, so I did research, as I wasn't very familiar with either. I believe it was accurate as my dog exhibits some exact, specific traits of the 2 breeds. I may have eventually figured out one breed based on some behavioral traits, but would never have guessed the second breed. The shelter where I adopted her and my veterinarian had different guesses about her breed. So I am glad I did this test. ... show more

  • Affordable DNA testing
A lot of reviews say this company isn’t accurate. But I wonder if they have gone to other places and gotten different results and that’s how they know? I think that we seem to think we can identify a dog by googling pictures on the internet. Ever thing you could be wildly wrong? Or maybe not? Even if you ‘know’ what your dog is then again genetics are a wild beast and it’s possible that the mix creates a wild looking dog that is unique in its own right. I was during my results but I no means blame the company for being a scam. You’re mailing a swab, you’re taking the swab so many thoughts about accuracy and chain of custody. I am happy with the results … yes. Could they be wrong… I suppose but my pup isn’t going anywhere. If anything it helps me understand behaviors or emotions that my dog displays and I can cater my training to try and meet those needs of that breed that I wouldn’t have know existed otherwise. I’d buy it again for my other two pups! ... show more
