Please see the unit in person before buying. I made the terrible mistake of buying by the pictures. The unit looks cheap and unnatural, I have bought different fireplaces from duraflame and other brands. This one looks very similar to the cheaper of them. Poor quality materials, very loud vent. It does not include any glass door or panel either, so expect to pay more for the unit. The remote is trash, very poor quality fabrication. I strongly recommend people to visit a local fireplace store so they don't end up throwing away $2000+ in a bad product. ... show more

When we recently renovated our house, we wanted a fireplace in a spot where it was not feasible to do a real chimney. Ventless gas was never an option because of air quality issues, and we wanted a traditional appearance. The Dimplex Revillusion looks much more "Real" than the gas log set we previously had.     • Most realistic of fake electric fireplaces (in reasonable price range)
To me and my wife the Dimplex Revillusion Herringbone 36" is the most realistic of all the electric fireplaces that we saw except perhaps the Net Zero Fire. With that said, the NetZero doesn't come in a 36" model AND it's literally 4x the price. Additionally the NZF model warranty is very limited and short. We visited 3 fireplace stores and saw several different manufactures and products in person and barring the NetZero, this looks the most real. It gives you natural color selections and isn't just a TV inside a box projecting an image of a fire. It does pretty good presenting a 3rd image of a fire. The logs give off a real appearance even though they are made of a plastic like material and with the reflection and rolling flames, its the most real of the fakes. I only wired mine for the 120 V option. I can't says they give off a lot of heat, but the appearance was what we were looking for not, heat output. I haven't received any compensation nor fees for this review and can only say that my experience was outstanding! ... show more

It's hard for me to believe this firebox costs over 2k when in reality it looks like it should be about $200. The 'brick' is cardboard. The logs are plastic - like Barbie plastic. From far away, it looks decent, but come within a 10 foot range and it's all downhill from there. I'm typically not to hard to please, but this is bad! ... show more

This electric fireplace looks entirely unnatural in person, though the online photos appear somewhat realistic. Additionally, if you return this, it will cost several hundred dollars, then they will charge you another $300 'restocking fee'. The media could not be loaded. We moved into a brand new house that had a very basic living room. While trying to give the room some life we came across this fireplace. We wanted something we could wire up to 240 and give out some real heat, and this one does that. The display looks realistic at night when a few feet away. The fan (blower) is so loud we cannot use the fireplace. Dimplex agreed to send a new blower. It is delayed until July! The service rep was very nice. Hope to update this review after the blower is installed & we have a working fireplace.
