Well-made, easy to set up, and it’s giving me a lot of information that has helped me improve some of my indoor plants significantly.

    • Batteries not included, works best in Celsius
As others have said, the batteries are not included in this device. But that’s probably why I had no issues getting it shipped to me in Alaska, and I tend to keep AAA batteries on hand so it wasn’t a huge deal. Once you insert the batteries it’s very easy to detect and connect to the device using the Smart Life app. Right away I noticed that the default setting for the temperature reading is Celsius, and when you switch it to Fahrenheit it does not adjust the ideal temperature range on and of the plant detail pages. For example when I look at the Succulent detail page it says 10-30 degrees Celsius as the ideal temperature range, and when I switch to Fahrenheit it still says 10-30 degrees but this time as Fahrenheit. I also wonder how accurate the temperature reading is, as mine currently says it’s 73 degrees Fahrenheit yet my home thermostat is reading 68 degrees, and I have another temperature gauge that also says 68. It’s not a huge difference, but if I was using this for a particularly finicky plant it could be enough to throw things off. Personally I just want to know when it’s time to water my indoor plants, without over watering them. For that purpose this device seems like it will work quite nicely ... show more

This shipped pretty quickly. It was a little hard for me to understand, but once I figured it out it was great. I love how you can program your own plant/names and all their info to make sure your plants are happy. I recommend this for any plant lover, expert or beginner. It's VERY helpful.

This is a nifty addition to my garden tool box. I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did as I purchase something similar, but not as sophisticated and had ineffective results. Time will tell with regards to longevity, but so far this seems to be working fairly well.

    • Batteries not included, requires pushing the button to read
I really wanted to love this. It's got a cute style to it, and seemed to be useful for my heavily-automated house. But: - it didn't come with batteries - it requires you to push the button to take a reading - it doesn't use BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) So to read it, you have to use the app. An app that doesn't seem to want you to move it between plants to take multiple readings, if you were hoping for that—it's unnecessarily tedious. And since it doesn't use BLE, you can't use it as a remote sensor for automating a drip watering pump. The accuracy is suspect, too. On several samples of soil I new was dry (because there weren't any plants in those pots, and the soil hadn't been watered in quite some time) it still gave a passing grade for most plants. I wouldn't trust it. Maybe it has to "settle" after staying in one pot for a while, but the whole "push a button to read" thing makes it behave like a meter rather than a fixed sensor. The word "meter' is right there in the name, I guess, but their marketing copy and images strongly suggest you can assign it to a plant and leave it there. ... show more

First thought was "why do I have to use my phone to use this?", then found out the app is the same one I use for Inkbird devices. Easy to add the device and to read the moisture. Used primarily for my blueberry plants as they have a shred cover over the soil and it is hard to determine whether the roots are getting enough water. Problem solved... ... show more

    • Amazing! Takes the guess work out!
This is great because there is no more guessing if your plants need water or are they getting too much sun! Just scan the qr code, download the website and link up via Bluetooth. Has a generalized list of various types of plant and an customized list if you want to add a specific plant. Allows you to add pictures of each plant and gives you basic levels of humidity and temperature for each plant. Just turn on, stick into the soil at root depth and it tells you if it is within the proper parameters for each plant. Should be great for those who have a hard time with plants or even beginners.     • Neat addition to our plant monitoring tools!
This is a great new tool for myself and more importantly the plant mother in the house to properly monitor our houseplants. It updates quickly and has a starter selection of plants already programmed into the app. I also like that it uses the Smart Life/Tuya app that I already use.
