  • Excellent for cost & many negative reviews are due to customer not knowing how to use.
First off, I'd like to address some of the criticism of this product. First point, read the instruction manual before criticizing this item. Many of the critiques are obviously due to not knowing the product. Those that stated that the DC amps displays current even without a connection didn't read the instructions that clearly state a long press of the Hz%|SEL key will zero out the reading. So, scratch all those reviews (and there are too many). Those that stated that the screen is hard to read didn't see the clear instructions to short press the |NCV key to turn on the bright backlight. Those that stated that the turn knob is too awkward. Well, it's a turn knob like any other and not awkward at all unless, maybe, your fingers are 2 inches wide, or more. This unit has tons of features. And, despite someone's statement that there's no online, detailed, instruction manuel, there is one. In fact the unit comes with its own instruction manual also, though that one is more cursory. It does, though, give the user the vendor's contact webpage and email address. The tons of adaptors that it comes with vary in quality from okay to delicate but, heck, it's a lot more than all the other meters come with. Just be careful with them and they'll be okay, though I don't have a clue what many are for (but that's part of the fun, the learning part). For the money it can't be beat as it has the AC and DC amps. ... show more

  • Great price for DC clamp meter.
Once I figured out how to set zero on amp mode works great and fairly acurate.

  • Excellent low cost meter
This has been my go to meter lately. I have others, even a Fluke. But this is easy and it's able to read the current by clamping it over a wire. It does feel a bit cheap, with some hard plastics. But the included leads are very nice. As for accuracy, it is no Fluke. But it's much better than a Harbor F****** one you'd buy. To address some other issues mentioned in reviews. To measure current, you have to clamp on one wire inside a power cord (black OR white) - you cannot just clamp around an electrical cord an measure current (in a power cord the current flow in/out which cancels each other). Then, a meter with the free hanging leads (not connected to anything) are antennas picking up stray signals - so it will not measure zero. To test zero, you connect the two leads together for that (to offset meter lead losses, you can use the relative setting for that). As for accuracy. I measured some DC current with it to compare to other meters (none of them are calibrated anymore). This measured within a few percent of the others (and calculated values). So, it's good enough for general, every day use. ... show more

  • Low cost and full of features
I bought this current clamp multimeter by curiosity only. Since it was so inexpensive, I’d give it a try as an additional instrument on my workbench. However the probe surprised me by measuring AC and DC currents up to 600A with decent accuracy and precision. Later on I connected it to my o-scope (necessary to know electronics and having soldering skills) - that was an amazing surprise to capture the car engine crank cycle with incredible details. Soon I’ll edit this review to add pictures and signal plots ... show more

  • An excellent tool
Style: 1999 Counts AC Current Clamp Meter
Purchased this meter to help me with some challenges with a job that I was working on. It was exactly what I needed and it was priced very reasonable!

  • Great little meter
I bought this to keep in my truck because it claimed to read DC amps. It does, quite nicely. I compared the accuracy with my Fluke 87 (which is calibrated yearly), and this one is nearly dead on. The leads are really flexible, and are quite sturdy. Comes with a few adapters too. The only minor peeve is it does not autodetect AC/DC, and I forget to switch every now and then. Again, very minor. You can't beat the price on this for a home handyman or a backup meter if you are a technician.... ... show more

  • This meter has a significant display problem
The meter seems to work fine but has a problem with viewing angle on the display. Here are 2 pictures of the meter; the first picture is head on and the second one is shown with it tilted slightly downward. The display completely washes out. This might be fine for occasional use but it rules it out as a regular usage tool. It's bad enough to have to handle 2 probes and a meter at the same time (there is no way to attach a probe to the meter body); adding the need to adjust the meter viewing angle makes it very irritating. ... show more
