  • Great kids bike!
Got this for m 6 year old. It’s his 1st bike with gears and he really loves it. It was easy to put together, great quality bike and easy for my little guy to use. He ride on pavement and some off road trails and it preforms great on both. Glad we purchased it and would recommend to anyone looking for a solid kids mountain bike. ... show more

  • Great bike for the money
I bought this for my 6 year old 49" tall son. It fits him really well and he has some room to grow. The "ready to ride" part wasn't quite true. It did come mostly assembled and was easy to finish putting it together. But the rear derailleur was pretty out of adjustment in every way. When first shifted into the lowest gear it ran the chain completely off the sprocket. It wasn't too bad to get everything set so it shifted smoothly and repeatedly but some may be intimidated by doing the adjustments. It is a heavy bike also. Not too terribly heavy but it has some weight to it. The components the bike is made up of are all pretty low grade but mostly name brand stuff. For the ~$100 price range I think it is well worth the money for a kids bike. It looks nice and functions well. If I had to buy it again, I would. And I saw in several reviews that people were confused about the black metal loop or hoop with the 2 holes in it. It is a guard for the derailleur and is held on with the two small screws in the parts box. I will maybe try to add a picture to help explain it ... show more

  • Nice bike
We don’t have a ton of time on this bike but here are my impressions so far. Assembly was extremely straight forward, I didn’t even have to go into the garage for tools(until later) For the reviews saying even with 72 years of bike building experience it still took them 2 hours, they are either full of it, extremely incompetent, or got a defective product. I have assembled 0 bikes before this one and it took me roughly 45 minutes, including the youtube video I had to watch to adjust the brakes. If I didn’t have to adjust the brake levers so my son could use them easier it would have been 30 minutes. Adjusting the levers in threw the brake pads out of wack and I tried staring at it for 5 minutes before I admitted I had no idea and looked up a youtube video. I had to pull some slack out of the brake cable and adjust the tension on the pads(had to go grab a philips screwdriver for this) After that it was ready to rock. Saying it fits a 44” child is being EXTREMELY generous. First off, this thing is heavy. Noticeably heavier than my 650b mountain bike. The price tag and materials are definitely the reason for that, but I figured the smaller size would even it out. My son is 47” and even with the seat all the way down he was on the struggle bus. It can’t go all the way down, the seat post hits the frame before that happens. He could only wobble from one foot to the other, trying desperately to find a balance. I grabbed the seat and post off his old bike which allowed it to sit lower, and he was ok after that. Note that this does affect the pedaling motion for the worse, his knees come up too high, but it is manageable until he grows into it. He also has a rough time shifting down with his thumb. He ends up moving the handlebars to the left trying to press it in, but he’s only almost 6 and I had an idea he may have some growing pains moving from a single speed bike. Shifting up you pull towards you with the pointer finger, and there is much less resistance, so that’s not an issue. Brake levers are a drastic change from the pedal brake he was used to. It took a couple rides for him to get used to it. With all that being said he has not asked to go back to his old bike, which he can handle much easier. He loves that we can ride up the hills on the bike path instead of having to get off and walk like we have been doing. For the price of a nice single speed I think this was a great choice. Only time will tell how well it holds up, but so far so good. I wish the height recommendation was a little more realistic and it was lighter, if it wasn’t for that it would definitely be 5 stars. ... show more

  • Great bike!
Our grandson loves it. Seems to be very well built. A little on the heavy side but perfect for a 7 year old.

  • Great quality
Great quality, known this brand from 30 years ago bmx. Assembly is straight forward, tools are included. Smooth breaking and shifting right out of the box. Only complaint is a little heavy for a 7 yr old but great buy at the price.

  • Not all parts are assembled correctly
I purchased this and came with some prefixed parts. Those are not sturdy and always falling apart. Brakes and gears are not functioned properly.

  • Arrived Damaged
This product arrived with the box damaged from shipping which didn’t seem too severe from the outside and only appeared to be minor scuffing on one side of the front fork. Unfortunately, there was also damage to the brake caliper where the offset screw goes. It’s made of flimsy plastic, and as a result the screw no longer seats and pulls the caliper off the wheel rim causing it to stay engaged and constantly brake the front wheel. Unfortunately this was supposed to be a birthday gift for my youngest son and was on the doorstep when we arrived home. He was so excited we didn’t realize the issue until the bike was fully assembled and unable to back the brake caliper off with the screw. So I’m left with 2 options, let my kid ride an unsafe bike or break his heart and return his birthday gift over a $2 part. Neither of them seems right and shame on Amazon and Diamondback (used to be a good company with good bikes) for leaving your customers in that position. After half an hour of phone menus and dealing with a customer service rep who was barely understandable due to their accent, Amazon gave me a small refund which I used to purchase a new front brake assembly from a reputable company NOT named Diamondback. They could have saved the trouble by doing a better job building and packaging the bike. For those of you purchasing this bike, beware that it does not come with a kick stand (really Diamondback?) and the same damage can be incurred to this brake caliper part by your child simply dropping it on the ground. It may look cool, but it’s the same poorly made garbage all the other cheap manufacturers are peddling. Next time I’ll save myself the trouble and spend the money to get a decent bike from a decent bike shop, NOT Amazon. ... show more
