Diablo's large gullet provides the chip removal space required while ripping and the close grouping of teeth within the set provide the smaller bite size required when crosscutting.     • Best saw blade that won't put you in the poor house
Let me start off first by saying I am not a professional carpenter or wood worker by any stretch of the imagination, more like a hobbyist and that's stretching it a lot. I took wood shop in high school and that was 30 years ago. but I've tinkered over the years but in the last year or so I've been trying to get back into wood working, so I bought me a table saw and some other tools, andl I'm in the middle of making a project for my wife and I never give the saw blade that came with the saw much thought it was brand new and it felt sharp so I started using it, and I'm cutting red oak so it's a hard wood not super hard but it's not pine either and I noticed after about 10 maybe 15 cuts I was having to push a little harder and was getting light burn marks, so I started looking around for a new blade so I bought a dewalt blade it's a little better but I still wasn't impressed,so I started looking on wood worker forums and the general consensus was that the majority of people were using freud diablo blades.I didn't know a lot about freud but I knew enough to know that their blades were around 60 to 75 dollars and I was a tight wad and didn't want to spend that much on a blade. my attitude was literally how much better can one blade be over another just because of price. Well about a month ago I was surfing around on Amazon and came across a Freud blade and it was under 40 bucks so I got curious and started reading the reviews and they were talking about how sharp they were and how accurate they were and how long they lasted and how much quiter they were so I thought it's not much more than the dewalt blade I bought. I got it really fast as always with Amazon Prime shipping as soon as I got it I went to my shop and installed it and started making test cuts on some scrap and let me just say OMG Freud has a reputation for being one of the best blades on the market for a reason they earned it.. this blade was so sharp it cut through that scrap oak literally like a knief through butter the effort it took to push the wood through my saw was so much easier than it was with my stock blade even better than the dewalt. I can't attest to the longevity yet because I haven't had it very long but from what I've read you can sharpen this blade over and over I think you can even send it to freud and they will sharpen it don't know what that would cost but it would be worth it. And the last thing I noticed is the sound level this blade is so quite I couldn't believe it just with it spinning on the saw not cutting its so quite and when you're cutting it is so noticeably quite compared to a stock saw blade or one's of lesser expense. I was so impressed that I bought a 2nd Freud except the second one is for rip cuts. I could go on for a long time about this blade bottom line is you're getting a great quality blade for a really decent price it's sharp it's quite and most likely will last you twice as long as the cheaper ones will. Very clean cuts highly recommend this brand/blade. Reduces the time needed for sanding significantly, as it leaves a fairly smooth finish that I haven’t seen from other blades.

    • A Solid Performer
This is a mid-price saw blade that is far superior to the two-for-$29.99 you find at the big box stores, the ones with the skimpy carbide tips, which are adequate for the weekend woodworker but which can only be considered a throwaway blade in a professional wood shop. You will not be throwing away the Freud D1050X Diablo saw blade for some time after buying it since it will give you many years of dependable service. Like all of the well-engineered Freud products I've used, the blade is a solid performer. I especially like the cuts it makes in plywood, where the thin kerf eases the blade through the material, saves a bit of material width with each cut (which can make the difference between going into another sheet or not, a serious consideration when using, say, 3/4" walnut plywood at something like $120 a sheet), and produces less sawdust. Not that speed around dangerous equipment is a benefit, but this blade cuts plywood with noticeably less effort--more swiftly--than blades with thicker kerfs. That may also be the result of the coating, which hinders resin build up on the blade. It seems quieter, too. It is not, however, the ideal blade for thick solid lumber, which is more effectively cut with a beefier blade like those offered by Forrest. But if you can't afford to buy a high end blade and don't want to risk using the cheap blades on the walls of Home Depot and the like, this blade is well worth the expense. ... show more

    • D1050X (and D1040x) Best bangs for the Buck
A good sharp blade if you need a flat bottom kerf for eating away at a slot or tenon shoulder. It is also good if you primarily rip. The 40 tooth version in the same price range is also good but has a bevel tooth cut. Of the two all around blades, the 50 tooth rips a little more freely, the 40 tooth crosscuts a little smoother. Both are fine for general use for the "non blade changers" out there - like me. The difference is miniscule between the two. The 40 tooth is slightly quieter in operation since there is no staggered tooth pattern. Some woodworkers may not consider these "glue line" blades, but I glue straight off the cut with no problems. A dull or damaged blade is crappy no matter the brand. These are always razor sharp out of the box stay that way for a while. I also have Forrest WWII blades which are very nice (much respect), but 3x the cost only gets you 10% more performance plus larger carbide teeth for resharpening at $26 plus shipping to Forrest. Not all hobbyists and certainly not contractors need the best of the best on the market to get the job done. Save the Forrest blades for your high end builds or high production shops. Freud Diablos work great. ... show more

    • Makes good clean cuts, great blade for any saw.
This is a great blade and makes really nice fine cuts on my table saw, a big upgrade from my original 24 tooth blade. Wish I would have bought this sooner for more finer cuts, or has made my carpentry work more accurate. Especially for miter type cuts and haven’t really noticed any tear out, love the Freud line of blades and bits, top quality IMO. ... show more
